Definitely something worth checking out. You can somewhat view the calendar in terms of upcoming events. It lists a number of events coming up. I wouldn't be suprised to see some functionality appear where you can show events on specific dates to check for conflicts when scheduling something. While text messaging directly to Google sounds like the best method for GCal updates, IMified also offers a single interface for multiple other services.
