Fido To Shutdown Hiptop Service
Some sad sad news today for our neighbors up north. Fido, the Canadian carrier for the Hiptop, is sending out text messages to their Hiptop customers saying “Fido info: We have some important information about your Hip Top option. Please call us at 1-866-273-FIDO (3436) and press 2”. Those calling the number are being informed that Fido will be shutting down the Hiptop service come April 30th, 2009. It’s a sad day, and many users are now trying to figure out what device to move to. Sorry to see you guys go! Here’s hoping the Sidekick/Hiptop makes it back up there under another provider! Maybe via T-Mobile? It’s been almost a year since they were rumored to be moving into Canada.

If tmobile shut down sidekicks there’s always the iPhone, Nokia N95, Samsung Omnia, G1, G2, LG Velicia, Prada Phone. Sidekicks are outdated anyways……..

They should offer you guys a f****n discount or even better a refund or another phone that’s similar to the SK. I hate when cell providers do that…… same thing happened to amp’d mobile started sending stupid notices saying they were gonna shut down, what about all fido’s customers who own a hiptop are they worth anything ? If they are then why do this s**t to them and not the rest of their customers.. luckily I got tmobile usa and don’t think they’ll shut down the hiptops because we hear a lot of rumors of a hiptop 3g coming !!

Wow such bravado! Currently yes you out number us in population. USA nuke Canada? I don’t think so. 40% of the oil for your tanks/fighter jets/drones/BattleShips/Aircraft Carriers comes from the OilSands of Alberta. Also many countries around the world have citizens & their family’s working here or have taken citizenship here. Greenland, France, England, Russia , Scotland, Belgium, Greece, Pakastan, North & South Korea, etc – basically every country where USA has caused a stir in; would goto war with USA if they tried to goto war with Canada. We’d seriously happer your pulp & paper industry and that fabulous Oil pipeline from Alaska going through BC – CUT/Redirected.
To hate a nation of ppl without knowing anything about their livelihood, history, how their trade effects YOUR economy (many Ford 4x4s, vans, Chevy’s are built in Ontario: incl new Camero) is just plain childish.
Oh and by the way we hit a low of -10 degrees celcius in Toronto, with less than 4inches of snow while Boston got LOTS! Our weather here mimicks New York City’s for the most part of the year. Oh and our economy is MUCH more stable than the USA – non of our banks had to be closed or ask for a federal bailout!

it was a great device and service in Canada but outdated
I bought an unlocked LX a few month ago and travelled to Southamerica with it, everyone loved until they pulled out their BB-bold and Sony Xperia…. because its unlocked i could only use the text and make calls. making it completely useless, this phone needs to have a full unlocked browser..
also my Bro tried to send me via bluetooh a mp3 song from his NokiaN95 but it just would not work….
so long Hiptop Service and Fido service….

Seriously Canadians, don’t be mad just because some jerks on here make fun of you. To be honest, most Americans are high, stupid, or abusive. They are too busy clogging their arteries with french fries and driving Hummers to give a shit about anyone but themselves. Trust me, I’m 19 and while I enjoy the freedoms in the US, people here are pigs. What a shame that such liberties go to spoiled brats like us.
US isn’t all that great…half the world wants us dead for a reason you know. We consume so much but are of so little value…the US adds NOTHING to the world that is good.
