if you’re under warranty and your trackball goes bad, you’re good. if you try to open it up and change it… voided. that is to my understanding. am i wrong?

Mine is in perfect condition. I always used it and put it away every night for a safety and prevent from dust. No scratch and everything. It look like a new and I cherish it alots so I will wait for 1 1/2 years before I will replace it for a new touchscreen t mobile or blackberry.

From the article.
“Maybe you dropped it and now you need to fix your Sidekick LCD screen. Or maybe your trackball is just incredibly dirty and you want to pull it out and clean it. ”
Damage impacted on device from personal use is not covered by the warranty. A trackball that malfunctions and a trackball that is dirty are two different issues. If it’s dirty, thats your own problem. If you spill mt. dew on your trackball, and say its dirty.. then that sucks. Dirt/spillage is not caused by a software or hardware defect from the factory. Therefore, you won’t be able to get a replacement under the warranty.
If you do open the device, you void your warranty. (like you said. that’s obvious)
No need to get smart. I am far from ignorant.
