How to Convert YouTube Videos for the Sidekick
Want to watch YouTube on your Sidekick? Well you’re out of luck for streaming, but you can convert the videos from YouTube to a Sidekick friendly format on your PC. Dave writes in to our comments about how to convert YouTube videos for watching on the Sidekick:
Guys please listen up closely
and read carefully.
Ok, I did a little research and figured out how to Download the videos off youtube and convert them to mp4 so they can be added to your phone.
Follow closely these steps and read carefully, its fairly simple.
1. Download Free Youtube to Ipod Converter
Link: http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/download/FreeYouTubeToiPodConverter.exe2. Open the converter and Add a Youtube link to it. For Example…This random video I chose!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4UuTiK4a7o&fmt=18
(Now notice, that in the end of the link theres a “&fmt=18″. That is very important and It must be there, If it isn’t then add it onto the link”
Simply place that in the Input URL.
3. Select the Output.
Click Devices, Choose MP4 Mobile Phones, and select The Standard Quality. Then just simply edit where you want the video to be downloaded to and the name you want it to have and just download it.4. Plug in your phone through the USB connector to your pc, and open the Music Folder. Simply click and drag the video in there.
5. Unplug your USB, and check your Music Player library, and there should be a video in the videos tab. Just click and viola.

well if you have firefox and real player you can just click ” download this video” and save it to desktop and the go to media-convert.com and open the file and convert it to any format you want. It’s really fast too.

hey guys. i know i better way that you can do it so that you wont have to download anything. just go to http://www.zamzar.com and click on the URL link. Then type in the link to the video, then it’ll say convert to, and you select .mp4 and then type in your email adress and it’ll send the video converted to your email. =]

1st. install the moyea flv downloader and the super© program
2.start the moyea flv downloader and open firefox,safari,internet explorer or whatever you use.go on youtube.com and look for the video you want to download.
3.copy the url of the video so it should look like http://www.youtube.com/watch=5al3×9as or something like that its just an example so you don’t copy the embeded code.
4.on the moyea flv downloader click on the “show browser” button it should be on the bottom left corner,when the browser pops up paste the video url @ the top open box and click on go or the arrow i 4got which 1 it is.when your video is fully loaded[you don't have to watch it it just has 2 load all the way] select the video @ the bottom box[make sure the arrows next 2 it so you know its selected]and click download,when its done downloading you’ll hear a noise the video will be download in your “my documents” folder in a folder called “downloaded flv’s”
5.open the super© program and the “downloaded flv’s” folder,drag the downloaded flv file to the open box on the super program, its the big wide open box @ the bottom.
6.changes the settings to these settings for better quality.

if you don’t like the quality of the video you can always go 2 your “downloaded flv” folder delete the .3gp file and convert it again with different settings for better quality.some videos need more frames and less bitrates or some need less frames and more bitrates… just mess with the settings til you find your desired quality. avoid multitasking while watching videos such as I.M’ing,texting,web browsing, etc etc and try not 2 have a full memory card, thats one of the reason some videos might not play so good on your phone. well let me know what you think… if you liked this way better or not… AIM is oOBLU3oH3FN3ROo.also check out my themes @ sklxthemes.com my account name is OBLU3oH3FN3Ro you can search it or just go directly 2 sklxthemes.com/author/OBLU3oH3FN3Ro

7.encode[active files]
8.connect your sidekick to your computer[usb port] and open your memory card to view all files.[most computers prompt you with a pop up,just scroll down and click “open folder view all files” or go to “my computer” and click on the “removable disks mine is J but i think the default 1 is E: i think
9.you should see a “DCIM” folder a “music”folder and a “themes” folder if you put custom themes on your sidekick. make a new folder and name it “video”,you should see this folder with all your other folders.
10.open your new video folder and your “downloaded flv” folder in your “my documents” copy the video you just converted it should be in .3gp format not the .flv one,go to your “video” folder,paste the video in there and your all done.
11.disconnect your kick,check your media player it should be under videos

nope this does not work for the slide you need the OTA for this to work… unfortunately the slides did real ****** in sales and are now discontinued so I don’t think the slide will be getting the new OTA

if you were smarter you would’ve read my comment on top that this doesn’t work for the slide,Now why would it work for the sidekick 3?This is exclusively for the LX,THLX, and the sidekick Hoe 8 it will only work with the new 4.6 4.7 OS
No this won’t work for the sidekick 3 that phone died and isn’t recieving Nothing new besides in the download catalog,same thing with the ID and the slide those phones are dead both & are also discontinued and will not be recieving the OS 4.6 OTA

There are some people that are either dumb, do not like to follow instructionz, or they are just aren’t phone/internet literate. I hope it is the latter… First off, you can only put youtube videos on your phone if you have the sidekick lx, the sidekick 2008, or the tony hawk lx. Secondly, you can only put youtube videos on your phone if you have the new video ota. And finally, these instructions are simple to follow. Me and a few of my friends have followed these instructions and they have worked, as i have multiple videos on my phone now and i put new ones on it almost daily. If this website’s instructions do not work for you, then you are not doing something right. Make sure you read every bit of the instructions. Some videos will not download with this option because they are flagged. You need to sign in to view them and prove you are 18, so when you put the URL in the converter it gets stuck at the sign in page.

Well your problem is….you were trying to download a video with a parental 18 and older thing. For this go to keepvid.com and type in the url then down load that link….so yeah
