More leaked Sidekick III pictures
We’re not sure where the cat being controlled by this cat remote is, but we’ve got some new pics for you. It looks like these were recently leaked on Howard Forums, mobilehipster, hiptop.com (removed by mods), and probably elsewhere. Looks like we’ll be seeing a Sidekick III soon as these look like they could be a finished production device. At first look it seems like it is going to be a little thicker than the Sidekick II. No official word on features, specs, etc. But here are some more rumours we’ve heard:

Instead of the scroll wheel there is a ball.
It is slimer and no rubber bumpers.

It looks good, I just hope the graphics can be customizerd. I would like a more professional look. I like the BB but the SKI, SKII are a lot of fun, just never really considered dure to the looks of the os. Please SHARP consider a more ‘vanilla’ version to switch between. Other than that I like what I see.

a very simular picture of the sidekick III was put online like 5 months ago, i believe that they are legit pciture, but the problem is that there was a sidekick III that was set to launch this christmas, but was scraped because t-mobile did not like the model that danger brought to them, I would argue that this is the model that t-mobile sent back. Based on what you all have described in things you want in a sidekick III, you should just get the t-mobile MDA which comes out very soon, it has all you need and more and the reception is way better then the danger phones. For all practicle purposes it is the sidekick III.

Ummm yeah except that the MDA costs nearly twice what SK does - why do people always overlook the cost factor when they tout “the new SK” or the new whatever?
For me there is a combined criteria of cost and functionality. What gives me the most bang for my buck? I’m not going to be for a 60.00/month blackberry when my SK does the same thing for half the cost.

They need to really go hard on the new sk3 if it’s really going to one. Am not press about the new sk3 thoe. it’s needs a lot more **** done to it for me to really cop one since I already have the sk2. It needs a way bigger screen, video cam, touch screen, and all the other features the sk2 lacks. They need to reall step up for me to cop that **** knowing all these new devices coming out with everything on it plus bigger options and features. And u know t-mobile is going to hit u in the head with the price tag. for like $400to $500 for the sk3 whenever it get’s release.

The “MDA” has been on the market for almost a year now (ebay, kids.) and is dubbed originally “Imate KJAM” or “Qtek 9100″. When available from
T Mobile it will be $400. The same price as the original SK2 and now the price for the “Mister Cartoon” and “Juicy Couture” versions. I owned an o2 xphone last year which is very similar to the “SDA” and I now have a SK2. The o2 phone was superior. Danger and Sharp need to have a serious overall with the SK3 to make it up to speed with features that are being offered on several “new” (USA always gets the last of tech) phones on the market. I like the SK2 but the ability to jump back and forth with my phone to computer, make my own ringtones, have a better camera, removable memory and customization of screens, alerts, etc. Is why I’m dumping the SK2 and grabbing a U.S. version of the MDA. Unless T Mobile figures it out and gets their heads out of their butts I wont get the new SK3.

Really it looks like they will be very similar feature-wise.
The form factor is obviously different.
I think when it comes to the MDA vs SK3 it will really be down to Windows Mobile 5.0 vs the Danger OS.
One thing to note is the MDA comes out this week, the Sk3 could be a far way away.
By the time the Sk3 comes out, i bet the MDA will be a little cheaper still.
Honestly the MDA is probably going to be technically better, but the Sidekick has a pretty big following– i bet the SK will outsell–… possibly just because everyone is stuck with their @tmail.com email.

The SideKick II is old - there’s no denying it. It’s so far ahead of other lifestyle devices in many ways, but, at the same time, its age causes it to be so far behind. It’s had a great run, and its successor will surely give us what we want out of a modern phone.
From what I’ve been told by some industrious T-Mobile folks, most of the SK3’s delay has been spent integrating EDGE; and not just partway, but completely. Danger and T-Mobile both wanted to do it right the first time. For me, WiFi is a nice plus, but if EDGE works well, it’s less of a concern. I’m more interested in Bluetooth connections with my home equipment.
So then, for me, it comes down to removable storage, a sleeker form factor, and the ability to install whatever apps, pictures, or ringtones I want; both from my own PC and T-Mobile’s service.
cult: I’ve never replaced my SK II, and neither have any of the dozen or so people I know who have one. Its manufacturer is Sharp, which is definitely not a no-name brand. Sharp also manufactures some of the most robust, sturdy PDAs on the planet (Zaurus).

Ok people lets be happy that we are getting something, this device is supposed to be for the youger generation so it’s supposed to be affordable not 400 600dollars, we asked for a memory card slot we have it coming and nobody has acknowledge that it has this feature. Needless to say most of you complainers that’s saying it’s going to be garbage will be the first to put ur orders in when they come out on the market. The bluetooth i’m so sick of hearing about it when it’s just another expense for an earpiece that works when it want to just buy an adapter and call it a day I’m happy with the features that it has, I know some other people feel the same way we have very smart people on this forum that can probably do great with the Danger company so my advice is to go to danger.com and submit a resume’ stop complaining and take action.

Of course we’re all going to get one, because we know the bottom line: there is no device out there that does so much, so easily. Maybe there’s a couple of things that any given one of us doesn’t like about it, but consider the alternatives. Windows Mobile is as simple and reliable as any other Windows OS out there, and it strives to put windows onto platforms that call for simplicity, elegance, and speed. Blackberry is definitely simple, maybe elegant, but friendly it is not.
If the SK3 has half of what we all want for it, it’s going to leapfrog other devices. We’re all excited, so let’s just wait and see what Danger, Sharp and T-Mobile have in store for us.
ShaQ: I totally agree with most of your comment, except the Bluetooth bit… it’s for way more than earpieces, especially if you have a system that can utilize it. Mac OS X, for example, comes out of the box with the ability to interface with the phone to synchronize contacts, place calls, display caller info onscreen, transfer apps/pictures/ringtones, and connect wirelessly to the Internet at high speed, all via Bluetooth. Anyone who has a computer that can use Bluetooth definitely wants it in their portable devices.

Sorry kids, the new SK3 will be around $400 and yes geared to a younger generation. The same ones who plunked down $400 for pink & black SK2’s. They could charge $500 for it if they gave custom colors, no bluetooth or SD card. And I’m not complaning about the SK. I bought it, used it and now it’s pretty outdated. The keyboard is “key” to my enjoyment but there are better phones out there or coming BUT not to the ol’ U.S.A. I’ll might buy another but the MDA will certainly put a huge crunch on the SK3. You can make your own ringers, using your own music, as long of a song as your memory will allow. There’s a better camera (at least for now), bluteooth, Mini SD slot, it will play mp3’s (winamp, baby), video camera, it interfaces with your pc, blah, blah, blah…….. look here:

Everyone uses their devices for different reasons so I can’t speak for anywone else when I say this, but I am extremely happy with my sidekick as a communication gadget which it was originally made for. try having a full conversation on a Treo 650-700w oe even the blackberry IMPOSSIBLE! I don’t need my sidekick to make songs with, hack into someone else’s system, drive my car or even zap someone. I just need it to stay connected so I just ask for the best network connection I can get. With the external memory we probably can’t do much like watch movies but maybe we can save pictures and music to it.

Hey….my sidekick 2 is f****d up I already had to exchange it once and I gotta do it again…my s*** keeps turning off by itself and then turning back on and then it says cingular on the screen and the I have to wait like 15 minutes for all my contacts pictures and setting and ringtones and games to reload which suxxxxx but I am I sk head and I will more than likely be buying the sk3 but I would like it to have bluetooth or just a headset with a button to answer and end calls….geeesh….danger needs to step their game up and it should have a video recorder even if its for 5 second generic free verizon phones have camcorders….but regardless I’m about to just keep this broken sidekick and purchase the sk3 regardless of what it has…I like sidekicks and their keyboards…..and they are extremely user friendly the blackberry is not user friendly and the treo is anoying…DaNGeR STePYa LiFeuP!!

If u r the type that needs 2 stay connected talk 2 friends, family, stangers…surf da web….WITHOUT A DOUBT the SK line is 4 u….its the best bank 4 ya buck since the SK color 1st came out!! Nothing else can match it monthly price wise and user interface/friendliness….give it 2 anybody that’s neva had 1 n in most cases 15 20 mins they sk-kickin like a pro
If u need apps,more attachments, media capabilities, computer interface and other things of that nature …..go with a windows or sybian based phone

Hey, I actually just got the sidekick. I had a razr and just couldn’t take it anymore….that thing is the biggest **** of a phone I’ve EVER had….. So I tried the sidekick. I think the side kick is the coolest gadget I’ve ever had myself…. I don’t think it’s too big…and I don’t mind buying ringers for 2 bucks….. I used to make them for my razr and frankly that’s too much trouble.
Anyway…I like the sidekick and hope a sk 3 is even cooler. I work in the computer idustry and man…I can’t stand all that geeky **** like treo’s and bb’s. At least the sidekick’s got some cool going for it. Believe me, geeky stuff like a windows ce phone ain’t cool.

Yea, I think I’ll be replacing my sk2 with a MDA. I’ve been resaerching and due 2 windows 5.0 and expandable memory with a usb cord won me over if the keybord isn’t too, complicated I’m getting one 2marrow. to the various people making mda comments…
MDA DOES have SPEAKERPHONE (although it wasnt very loud)!
you CANNOT make your own ringers… it comes with maybe about 8 tones that just repeat and you cannot add megatones or hifi ringers in any way…!
it has WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER not winamp!
it is bulkier than the current s2!
i would not consider it friendly… it is definitely more difficult to operate than the s2.
the camera sucks and is a lame excuse for a 1.3 megapixel!!!
… and trust me, i should know! i switched from sidekick to mda.. i kept the mda for 5 days until switching back to the sidekick 2.

Ok, I have been reading all the forums about the sidekick III/hiptop 3 and I get more confused as I read them. I decided to contact t-mobile and danger myself to see what they say and this is what i got from t-mobile:
“Andy, we have checked with Danger, the company that makes Sidekick, and they have no plans on releasing a Sidekick 3 anytime in the near future. If this changes, please keep an eye on the upcoming device releases on http://www.tmobile.com.”
and here is what I got from Danger:

Unfortunately until we have made a public announcement via the press or through our website, Danger does not comment on any unreleased products or services. This didn’t help me at all. So dont waste your time contacting t-mobile or danger. They wont say anything. BUT…. danger never said they wouldn’t…. so there is still a possibility.

i think its incredibly funny the way people complain about there sk’s. Surely (or at least i hope) they arent stupid enough to continue the usage of a phone that they do not want… so why even stop, view and read a website that is all about the sk 3, when they dont even like the sidekick’s in the first place? pathetic…
P.S. For the ones that are awaiting the release date of the sk3… (most of us) stop posting **** up that you aren’t even sure about. It would make the whole reading process a bit faster. It is the same thing over and over again, NONE of you know the release date and stop posting about how this tech and rep told me this and that… THEY DONT KNOW!! They know as much as you do. I bought the mda when it hit the stores and its a horrible phone. The phone is handicap without the stylus. If you don’t use the stylus you can’t do ****. Its garbage. The sk2 is good and a sk3 could only be great

I’m new to T-Mobile (switched from SPRINT) and purchased the MDS. Although it’s a really nice phone (I can open email attachments), I would have to agree with some people on this forum. The speakerphone isn’t really that great and you MUST use the stylus. I can (sometimes) use the touch screen when making a phone call, but for the most part-the stylus is required. I’ve read so many interesting and loyal comments regarding the Sidekick III, so I will surely switch WHENEVER they are available. In the meantime, the MDS will do.
for UR DUMB: U R right! The camera does suck, but I’ll just have to tolerate it until the SK3 comes. Gives me time to save for whatever it will cost me!

I just wanted to chime in, and let everyone know how lame they are for wishing Windows Mobile on any future versions of the SK, or any phone, for that matter. I would rather have a Telegraph than the latest smart phone with any Microsoft products on it.
Bring us the SK3, and bring it with the Danger OS. Who cares if you have to pay for some of the apps for the phone? Microsoft sucks, and I dont want Bill Gates to get any more of my money.

Well,well, I have the sk2 and love every aspect of it exept the ability to download ringtones from other sites , so I did what every 1 will do , change ot for a mda, well gess what it is a bad *** phone for some one that really need all that features and some one that’s really carefull , cus it last me 1 day, that’s right 1 dam day , not only that the web was the same speed as my good old reliable sk2 but it complicated to use , you need th styles for everything , , every time you need to acces a diferent application you need to exit everything and star over , yea windows mobile is great , but 4 me sideckik rocks and will always do , by the way I’m no youngster but I got style and my sk2 not only that’s is more friendly user is has never give me any problems and I do abuse my phones, this thing is bullet proof , mine has gone to hell ,live there and came back with no problem ..

i hope the sk 3 keeps the scrool whell..that lil joystick w/e thing i see in the pics aint cuttin it…bluetooth would be nice but im content with the regular earbud..plus i dun wanna get ear cancer down the line from all tat radiation..lol…the screen is big enough but it could be brighter..and they NEED to make it more durable..its like if your sk takes one little fall its done…

and honestly you cant say the treo is the best you cant say the sk is the best or the mda, cuz it depends on the person usin the phone..im only 18 so the sk2 is perfect for me cuz it lets me keep in contact with my peeps wit no hassle since its a phone desgined for the younger generation..all those other phones like the treo nd blackberry make me cringe cuz they look complicated and ugly to me and they seemed for the buisness oriented type..and plus whenever i pull out my sidekick and flip up the screen i get all the amazed looks from ppl and all the “omg you have a sidekick” comments..whats better than that??

I went to the Tmobile store on the 6th. The clerks told me that they have heard nothing about the Sidekick III. I’m not saying that these pics aren’t real. They just told me that they hear about every phone two months before it comes out. So most likely we will be waiting at least until June 10th. If were lucky.

Take a quick skim through the comments section here…All the SK fanboys are illiterate, ignorant children. First, learn to spell, second, grow up a bit. I was a SKII user since it was released (I got it on the special promotion for being a CSK user since day 1) but a user base says a lot about a product. Sure, it’s geared towards the “urban” market, but that also means that when they see you talking about your phone, they see you not spelling sentences, cursing a lot, and generally being annoying. They don’t have to give you everything that you want in a phone because you are a bunch of children (at least that is how you appear in forums and places like this). It is an easy market for a company like TMobile, they can keep you from getting what you want, keep you from customizing your phone beyond what they WANT you to have on it, and you’ll keep coming back for more. Sure the SKII was fun, but I was sick of the ****, It’s MY phone, let me put what I want on it, without voiding my warranty. Capice?
