Photobucket App for Sidekick Available
Do you use Photobucket to share photos? You’ll be happy to hear that there is now a Photobucket application for the Sidekick that will let you send photos directly to the service and manage your account from your device. Rumors about the Sidekick Blade said that this app would be available, and here it is for existing devices (Slide, LX, and 2008).
The application will set you back $1.99 to purchase, and then a recurring fee of $1.99 each month thereafter. So it looks like this is geared more towards hevy users of Photobucket. To get it, just check out the Download Catalog. Here are some screenshots of the app:

I thought about this and didn’t care at first but the reoccuring fee this application has frustrates me! If I was a sidekick developer I would look to see how apple’s mobile store works! None of their apps have reoccuring fees…at least that I know of. This is retarded. This is why I don’t buy apps from the sk app store.

I normally don’t complain. But, any recurring fee for these apps is not gonna cut it, they need to be fee. They already raised the data/messaging plan to $35, now they wanna add recurring charges to stuff that everybody else is using for free in the form of either an app, or a killer *** mobile site supported by these sites or a Computer like site. Unfortunately, I cut off my Sidekick before they changed the price, cause I stop using it, wanting another phone/device (A sidekick 2009), so now i’m gonna be forced to pay the $35, cause who in the hell with a Sidekick can live without Unlimited Messaging?, If it was limited internet, ok, but limited messaging unlimted email for $25 is a no no. So Sidekick better get it together is all i’m gonna say, and stop being greedy pigs in this starving economy in this US Recession.

Photobucket actually works well from the Sidekick Web browser for free. you can also upload pics from the sidekick to photobucket via e-mail for free as well.
Problem, however – PB has been limiting their account size now. I finally maxed out recently. they won’t take any more. (even if I pay for the app)

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks this. None of these apps should have reoccurring fees. There is a free app for my itouch, “ShoZu -Send & Share” that allows me to upload pics to Flickr, Facebook, Blogger, Twitter, Photobucket, Vox and other websites for free! No reoccurring fees!… granted I am on Wi-Fi but so what! I’m paying $20 a month for UNLIMITED web browsing. Why should I be hit with reoccurring fees?

Ridiculous. Sidekick is slowly falling through the cracks. Android, Apple, Blackberry, Palm, etc. are just overcoming these silly little phones with nice keyboards and good aims. Sure they look cool, but seriously everytime my phone dies my contacts restart. Its bad enough these systems have no stability, but the whole future of mobile phones is to have an unlimited amount of applications to do everything you need to do on it (and for a good price for that matter). If Danger plans on making money off these reooccuring and costly applications (that aren’t even any good to begin with) well, lets just say that plan will soon backfire. I know im going to get a lot of haters for this but unless this next Sidekick comes with great applications at free or good prices then sorry not going near it. Who knows if twitter, photobucket, myspace, facebook etc. will even be free on the next sidekick? Its supposed to be a social networking device but it has the same power (not including the aim) as any other slider qwerty phone (lg rumor, samsung gravity, etc.) Its a low end phone thats over priced for the high demand of teenagers liking the aim on it. It was the first phone to introduce a good quality instant messaging and now pretty much every phone has it. Powerless and useless IMO

Ok this has nothing to do with the photobucket app but it is about another app. I’m sure you guys probably already saw this but it’s an app that lets you record for 50 seconds. I know it’s not a big deal but it’s better than 20 seconds. It’s $1.99 and there’s no “reocurring” fee on it. The screen is still small though. Just thought I’d tell you.

i agree with you homie. i think that danger has plans on making their pockets real fat, at our expense. i hate to say it but i think there will be a charge for gps also. why are they doing this to us?? they want to charge for myspace every month and for radar and everything else that uses the internet. anything that uses the internet has a monthly charge. well….. they raise the charge to connect to the internet and now they want to collect for the apps that use the internet?? that is totally *** and im with you on this, if the next side kick does not show and prove than it will be the last one that i buy until they can get their act together.
that jump shortcut thing is unmatched, the keyboard is untouched by any other mobile keyboard, the os is very user friendly and the phone is a good looking phone (aside from the fact that it came in some really stupid colors. brown or blue?? no black phone?? no regular colors like the off white of the sk2 or the grey from sk3??) the phone itself is a great phone, that o.s and the jump thing is a really really good idea. the ablity to browse a web page then jump to a text then jump into the camera snag a pic then send it to a friend then jump back to the web page is awesome. i have yet to see another phone that can let me “minimize windows” (kinda) the way the sidekick lets me multitask, but the cost of having a sidekick at its peak is expensive. geez… why should i have to pay for all the apps i want to use every month?? why is the rss thing so expensive?? why so i have to pay for the newsroom?? why do i have to pay to record less than one minute of vid?? why is that even an issue?? the phone should be able to record as long as i have memory on my card. i had a nokia with a 2mp camera that let me record for as long as i had memory left then if i ran out on one vid than it was my fault and i had to erase it or get another card. why cant we have that?? what is with all the limitations?? any ideas homie??

I just came back from the at&t store next to my house, and I told the guy that we have t pay 2 bucks a month for myspace, and photobucket. He couldn’t believe it!! Hahahaha

I just don’t think I can afford the iphone at this point but I wanna switch over too. I’m gonna have to stick it out for the sk 09. glad I don’t use apps on my sk cuz then it would be super expensive. hopefully the companies get their **** together and can give us good deals on the pricing because we are bein limited on everything.

no phone is perfect. yeah it’s totally bogus we have re-occuring fees for something as simple as photobucket but whatever, don’t buy it. if you really need to use it that bad go on your fckin computer. that’s what it’s made for. of you really wanna take proffesional pictures by a digital camera. that’s what it’s made for. if you really cant follow street signs, go on mapquest or buy a cheap GPS system. THAT’S WHAT ITS MADE FOR. it really pisses me off that people expect so much from a phone. I overall love this phone and can’t imaqine leaving it.

We should be able to have OUR own song on the sidekick.

I’ve kept it because the prepaid plan is a nice deal for $1 a day. But, i’m waiting for June/July when the new iPhone comes out so I have the latest hardware

Oh my God, everyones bitching and whining is so exhausting. I understand some of you are mad at the mere PRINCIPAL of the fact that they’re charging 2 bucks for something that can be free but at the end of the day, noone is forcing you to buy an application that works just fine if you use the web browser for free. If an enhanced photobucket experience is THAT important to you though, just fork up the measly 2 bucks a month. That comes out to less than 10 cents a day. I may not agree with it but we live in a capitalist society, and this is what capitalism is. They wouldn’t be doing this is nobody is willing to pay for the app. But we all know tons of people will buy this.
Don’t get me wrong, contructive criticism is great and NEEDED but I haven’t seen anything “constructive” here in a long time. And I kind of agree with “Anonymous” above. I just need my SK to be an awesome communication device and that’s what it is. If it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that you need, just move on. For example, the phones mp3 player isn’t adequate enough for me so I got an ipod touch. I never complained about it. I love both devices. If the kick isn’t doing it for you just find a device/phone that does what you “need” it to.
And crazyforkicks, I may not of always agreed with you but I respected your loyalty to the SK and you defending it to all the haters. Whether you end up abandoning the SK or not, I hope you don’t become one of those bitter ex-sidekick users that complain. If you do I suggest you leave the forum as well. (Don’t that the wrong way)
As far as some positive news goes, my kick has been acting a little funny lately. I get kicked off aim a lot. In my experience, the device starts acting funny before a new device is released because they’re tweaking the new OS. Hopefully we’ll get some more news soon…

First 2 bucks a month for Myspace, then 2 bucks a month for photobucket, it probably will cost us 2 bucks a month for facebook, and most likely 5 to 10 bucks to use GPS.
This is a capitalistic society but this is too much. We need to revolt, which means we switch to another t-mobile device, or move to a whole different carrier. That is the beauty of a free world. I was just like all the Loyal SK users until I got my touch, Now I’m on it soooooooo much, that I don’t even email on my kick anymore, Sure the keyboard is nice, but you get used to the apple keyboard.
I was going to switch over next month when my contract is up, BUT now I’m gonna wait for the new iphone hardware coming out this summer.
I’m even hearing they might release an iphone with a physical keyboard.
The other thing I’m hearing is that in 2010 the contract with APPLE and AT&T is over, and t-mobile can finally sell the iPhone in the US.
I’ll wait for the summer. If the New kick KICK’S ***, then I will stay. but I honestly think I’m moving.
And to Greek Pharaoh, I prolly wont become a bitter hater apple fanboy. BUT eventually when other phone’s have hologram projectors in them, and can make your lunch, DANGER will have a free app store, and how many of you will still be using the kick?

I have had a Lexus for 8 years now, it has 187,000 miles and it’s running strong.
My wife has a honda element that has been running strong for 6 years! with no issues.
I eventually stopped buying american cars, because I kept getting burned.
The Sidekick is my old american car.

I got the touch bro, the email on it is sick, right now I have 7 email addy’s and my corporate email through microsoft outlook exhange.
I also have my calender and contacts sync’d.
the iphone is $199
the new sidekick will be about $350 with a contract.
Plus when you buy the new 3g sidekick you will have to buy the $35 data plan. and then pay for all the reoccuring applications, etc.
I’m taking the other dude’s advice, I’m waiting for the summer for the new iphone hardware, it is suppose to get a better camera and more RAM.
I’m sold on it, I can log into my alarm.com account and view my 8 security cameras on the iphone.

I’m sticking with sidekick LX for a long time. It serves me well. I’m going to hold on to my 19.99 unlimited data as long as I possibly can. If they somehow offered the next sidekick without having to pay more for data, I might consider.

As far as I know, everyone that current has a Sidekick plan will be “grandfathered” in when the new Kick comes out, so whatever you’re paying for the Sidekick Unlimited or other plan, you will be paying on the new SK (IE. $20 for the Sidekick Unlimited plan for me).
As for the price of the new kick, I’d rather it not be $350, but I could see it around $300 sadly. Whose to say what the new iPhone will cost? (Though, I’m sure it will still be cheaper than the SK.)

I understand where your coming from, but my thing is that Danger/Tmobile/whoever, knows that can get money with these recurring fees when they dont have a real reason why it has a recurring fee. I understand that its always on and its constantly using data, but how much can it seriously be using. And compared to other phones like the iPhone and Blackberry, myspace/facebook are free. And with a lot of these apps, you can use the browser for free and it only takes a little bit longer. The only app I have with a recurring fee is mynewsroom, and I dont mind paying for that since I use it constantly and everything is much simpler then using the browser to check all my different feeds. So I dont see why they need a recurring fees. Especially after they raised the sidekick data plan.
Im really excited for the next sidekick and I want to get the new one(the LX was my first sidekick, and my contract ends in October). But I can already feel that we are going to be charged a recurring fee for a lot of things and thats gonna piss a lot of people off.

You guys are really gonna think I’m crazy now, I just bought a mac pro and 2 monitors. This thing is hot! I definitely recommend trying OSX, it craps on my vista laptop and xp desktop.
But anyway, the netbook supposedly is going to be sold thru at&t with a 60 bucks monthly contract. I would love to buy it outright, but prolly wouldn’t need it.
The new iphone will probably cost around $299 for 8 gig for the first few months.
Then it should come down like the others do. I’m in the same boat as you, I really wanna get the 3g model but I asked the att rep about buying the new one after only 4 months of contract, they said I would have to pay full price, ($600 to $800)
Oh well, I will miss the keyboard. Sometimes change is good.
