you create a folder called “Themes”
Create each theme as a separate sub-folder:
Themes/Theme1
Themes/CrazyPic
Themes/SillyTheme
.
.
.
etc. (as many as u want.. 1 folder is 1 background
You save the PNG or JPG files under that folder, two for each theme
Save the pics as
240×138 (that’s the size of the pic u need, u can resize n epic)
ring-background.png ( for the main pic)
ring-folder-background.png (For the sub menus.. like instant mess. Apps, and games.
You then create a text file (using Windows Notepad or other Text Editor)
And include the following:
# ThemeName #
string Name(en_US) ThemeName
bitmap ring-background ring-background.png
bitmap ring-folder-background ring-folder-background.png
Save the file as theme.txt
Example file:
# CrazyPic #
string Name(en_US) Crazypic
bitmap ring-background CrazyPic1.png
bitmap ring-folder-background lookitsme.png
Save the file as theme.txt

then send the whole main folder labled Themes to ur device… then u unplug the cable when its done.. and look under backgrounds.

i made one for my local crew. pretty plain but i like.
i made a simple boondocks (tv show) wallpaper using pics i found on the net. this ones so simple cause i had to just test the waters
i made a oakland raiders one using a louis vutton bag print, it actually turned out alright! very thuggish hah. holluh at me if you want em! but click the link and look

Yeah, I love this……….who ever tricked it out,man ur the S*** and thanks for sharing it with us…. I made a few already but there’s this nice one I made… its a modified 06 gt eclipse as a main and the right front corner of a wrx sti as a sub…looks cool…ill see if I post it later on…. my girlfriend is gona flip when I tell her cause when we bearly got the phone, that’s the first thing she asked….the little dudes sort of block the pic though…its all good…if this one guy can find a way to remove them, that’ll be great….ok I’m done

You will need to put this image into your theme folder.

So now there should be TWO images and ONE text file in your theme folder.
AFTER you have done that you should add an additional line to your text file & it would look something like this:

i like to use mspaint sometimes! just click “image” then “atributes” to create the canvas
OR use sketch/skrew then keep checking your atributes till you get the right size

i think how when we use the generator it shows everyone our theme is stupid. they shouldnt share our themes liek that. wat happen if we used a personal pic or sumthin. then everyone will ahev it.

Okay, well this generator apears to not be working.
I found the background I want, I saved into the SD card next to DCIM and Music. I then unzipped it and unplugged the Sidekick. It says it says the background shud be there…but it isnt.

U r suppose to make a new folder called themes , in that folder make a newfolder with the name of the background…. rezise the pictures u want 240 x 138…. but them in the folder,open the notepad on ur pc and write……..

btw if ur plannin on not accepting the OTA.. because u want to keep the backgrounds.. because u dont think nthing special in it.. they can block OS 3.0 from acessing the network…of course it will be after everyone has recieved the update… but then u will have to get it from customer care. jus incase if ne1 didnt know. im gonna go do my honors eng. homework now. nite everyone

ota will most likely block the themes..
open and close.. the screen!. lol.. u can chage tha noise it makes. to nething want, aslong as u put the code in the theme.txt file and the .wav file with the pics.. i have three 6 mafia when i open n close mine.. lol

By the way… I was looking around and found out this on Gizmodo.com:
It looks like T-Mobile is getting their product testing company Centercode ready to start tests on their upcoming T-Mobile-At-Home (TAH) service. From what we hear, TAH is a wireless router-type device that broadcasts GSM and does VoIP through your broadband connection.
What this means exactly, we’re not sure. But the GSM broadcasting could mean you’re getting a stronger signal at home—like from a GSM repeater—and the VoIP is VoIP through the T-Mobile system. Most likely a flat rate for $X a month, or using up your minutes. All conjecture at this point until we receive more details after they roll out the test on August 11th.
They’re only signing up customers over email and having them reply via email. People who call up customer service or go to T-Mobile stores cannot sign up.

you use the same file of small bubble for both the small bubbles and you use the same file of the big for the big bubbles. the semi circle is the half circle in a folder.

yes, macs put a ‘hidden’ .ds_store file which will make the sidekick not want to read it. u can move the theme to a PC and delete it, or u can look in the forum for it.

Ok, well I just worked on my own theme last night and figured out a few things, nothing monumential or major. For the people who use the generator, on ur SD Card, make a folder called Themes, so after you download your theme from the generator, you notice the folder is zipped, I found it easyer to just open it copy the folder and its contents inside and paste it in the themes folder, delete the zipped folder and everything in it, unplug and you should see your new theme under backrounds. The generator resizes pics for you automaticly, atleast it did for me, I tryed using a pic that was 500X499 and it turned it 240×138 by its self. Just trying to help, oh yea you can get rid of the T-mobile people and bubbles with the generator. P.S. I don’t think T-Mobile can block the themes cheat, mainly because it is all happenening on the Mini SD Card and the phone is just reading it. Also why would they block it? Its not like their losing money or selling themes/backrounds to us or making them available to us. That’s just my own opinion
