Also, in regards to the Phone being on a Plan:

IF Telstra releases the LX ‘09, then it will be an MRO (Mobile Repayment Option) on top of the $30 for the Hiptop Plan (Free SMS/MMS/Data Usage)

This Plan is the HIPTOP PLAN for a reason, meaning why release a hiptop without the plan?

I work as a Telstra Dealer, and I also own the older Hiptop Slide. Last week, I had a Telstra Rep come out from Telstra itself, and being a Hiptop Fanatic, I had to ask what the go was with the new Sidekick LX ‘09. He said to me that Telstra was not 100% sure, because they only just recently took the Hiptop Slide off the Market, but releasing the LX ‘09 certainly was something that was brought up at their meetings. So to everyone who gets dodgy info, this is info provided to you from a Source WITHIN Telstra, from a man who actually does the sales side. Obviously, if he were out only for money, he would have said something like “Yes, it’s definately being released at XX/XX/2010, and it WILL be on the $30 Hiptop Plan”, but because he was being honest, he told me the truth – Telstra is still not sure. Apparently, the big final decision should be apparent around December sometime.

I recently contacted Telstra via the online help center email option, asking details of an Australian release of the Hiptop Blade on Telstra and asking for confirmation of the rumours but they denied them all… Really quite annoying

Just to address a few issues surrounding the LX 09 dropping in Australia.

From past experience, Telstra salespeople have no clue, period.

Before the launch of the Slide back in ‘07, I visited many stores asking for information. I was told that we weren’t getting it, that it would drop Q1 2008, that it would in fact be the LX and not the Slide. As I recall, the Slide was released in early November, possibly the 5th? But I actually got my Slide on the 1st due to a mix-up at my local Telstra shop. The moral of the story is JUST WAIT IT OUT.
