Im sick of this crap with the sidekicks. My phone hasn't worked since day 1. Not only has it not worked but T-mobile REFUSES to give me a discount for a new phone. Everytime I've called their customer service line their representatives try to keep you calm while telling you you're screwed. They haven't gotten my information back and all I've received is a $20 dollar discount for interrupted data services for 1 month. If anybody here can get the the BBB # or tell me how I can make a formal complaint I would greatly appreciate it. If anybody here will start a class action suit I will also join in. Someone needs to be held responsible and T-mobile is NOT taking care of their customers.

The comments here are hilarious. Nightmare at MS/Danger? Yep.

However, everyone, and I do mean everyone, who trusts some offsite service to be their sole source of backups is either simply ignorant or willfully stupid. Maybe both.

Ultimately, YOU are responsible for keeping backups of YOUR data. Grow up, you whiny brats.

Uh... a regularly used harddrive only has about a 5-year life. It's not Hitachi's fault the drive went bad. ALL drives eventually wear out.

Come on…Hitachi!?! Wow they SUCK, I don’t even like Hitachi products they fail too easily, I have a 20GB hard-drive on an old laptop that’s an Hitachi and it’s already going bad, lucky I was able to back up stuff from it, but still come on Microsoft, HITACHI!?! ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MINDS!?!

Guys and gals,

Tone it down and grow up a little. You lost some data. You were not gassed in a chamber in Asuchwitz. You weren't shot in the back of the head by the Khmer Rouge. You have not been imprisoned for most of your adult life in Myanmar. Your family was not raped and murdered before your eyes in Rwanda. Your village was not burend to the ground by armed teenagers in the Congo. Your family's livelihood was not confiscated by thugs employed by Hugo Chavez in Venezuela. And your farm was not stolen and your livestock killed by marauders in Zimbabwe.

You hope the Taliban blows up their office? Get off the video console and take a walk in the woods until you cool off. Get a little perspective.

And learn to express yourselves thoughtfully, preferably in English. which about 2% of you seem capable of doing without some extreme expression of just how little you really know.

Our country is in serious trouble, but it's not because of MSFT or corporate greed. It's what I see reading the illiteracy that passes for social expression in these blogs.

Clueless Uninformed Network Admin sputters : "First off, anyone relying on some cloud for 500+ contacts and software keys for $2000 software, deserves to lose it because they are too stupid to keep their own backups, SO YES! It is their own fault for not performing their own backups. "
---

Now that your foot is sufficiently inserted in your mouth, and you obviously don't have any clue what you are talking about, here, let me help you with that.

Data related to Gmail and MobileMe are designed to be backed up by the user; Danger’s Sidekick was designed to use a mission critical service operating under the assumption that users did not need to act to secure their data themselves. In fact, users had no capability to back up their devices’ data. Even the Outlook desktop sync tool (which Danger provided as an extra fee) synced with the cloud service, not the local device.

Maybe you could care to enlighten us how YOU backed up your Sidekick data?

The Sidekick service was designed a s low-hanging fruit consumer service - something for mom, pop, and grandma to use -- so, naturally, huge segments of the consumer population that don't know and don't care about backing up data flocked to it.

Again, how did you back up your Sidekick data?

Network Admin : "I LOVE IT!! Daffy you can bash them all day and blame them, then when it is fixed, you don't praise them."
---
I notice you failed to answer my earlier question.

You've ceased being relevant.

(for the record - high kudos to Microsoft for saving their own asses)
