Double Unboxing of the Sidekick LX 2009
Crazyforkicks, a frequent commenter on hiptop3.com (and the epic 400+ comment thread) got two Sidekick LX 2009s from UPS today. An Orchid one for his wife and a Carbon one for himself. So he busted out the double unboxing. Remember guys, “when you kick it, you gotta kick it good”.

Just curious, when u kick the screen open, does everyone push the screen open away from u? I’ve always pushed it towards me on the opposite corner of the screen. So im pushing it toward me, on the corner of the screen by the X (cancle) button. I’ve been pushin it open towards me since I’ve had my 2, just feels easyer to open that way. Just curious to see how everyone flips it.

The manuel(spell check?) says you can save ringtones received in the text messages. Or in that case multimedia messages. So if you don’t like the recording quality. Recording might be a nice option if you record a voice so something. But that’s about it as far as I can think of. My kick should come wesnday, hopefully it gets here a little earlyer! Its in Luiville, Kentucky last time I tracked it.(10 min ago?lol)

Yea im tight! Bro I ordered my sidekick april 17th within the first few hrs and these guys told me I won’t be getting it by the 12 I just checked and it says I will get it the 13th .. Wtf happened to the guarenteed to get it by the 12th.. Lady on the phone tried to give me some nonsense that it was backordered.. I walked into a Tmo place today after work and told them to pull it out (because I know they are suppoesed to have an pre-evaluation model). I got to fiddle with it for about 20 mins., Definitely bigger dimension-wise than an 08LX. Really good camera, although I wish it had a self timer. The first thing I noticed was the Myspace, Facebook and GPS software were NOT preloaded. Looks like a download boys and girls which will be free appearantly. I’m getting mine after work on Wed. But I’ll also be dropping 95 bones on the Star Trek Movies Collection Blu-Ray release tommorrow. So Damn, it’s going to be an expensive week..

Ultimately is was the data plan. I pay $40 for unlimited on 2 kicks.
I would have to pay almost $80 for 2 iphones. I can afford it, but I’m a cheap ******* when it comes to **** like that.
I have better things to do with my money.
Also, I iphone still lacks a reliable backend, they don’t save any of your data, unless you subscribe to mobile me (which sux!). And they don’t have true push notifications. My friend has to check her phone for IMs and other notifications, and lack of status light.
The iphone has a long way to become perfect. The keyboard is the deal breaker. And so far this new kick has excellent battery power.
I got to work an hour ago and I have 3G in the more urban part of my city.

I just checked UPS my kick should be coming in today, its out for delivery now.
No more violence, and ignorance in the forum. Lets see past that and talk more about this new lx 09.. i am waiting to get mine today and see what this thing is all about.
Funny enough, i would love a phone like a Black Berry Bold, something i can trade stocks on while i am on the go. ( Yea, market sucks donkey sax, but if you are a savvy investor, you should know how to make monkey in the market whether its going up or down) I would love to be taking care of business on the outside while being a ninja on my phone. The lx 09, i am waiting for that, just because i am a kick fan since the first one.
TO BE HONEST… I am wondering about the color cases and laser writing (etching) they would be able to put the lx 09’s in the summer and what will that look like. Will i be able to do anything different (change case, add etching) to my phone now after i receive it.
BTW, Crazyforkicks pad sounds bananas, i am trying to have my pad layout like that brother… (fridge with the xenon lights, etc.) Lets talk some business, lol.

No in the 7 years I have had a kick, they never transfer apps games or tones from one kick to the other.
The only exception is if you get a warranty or insurance replacement.
I don’t know how to delete the tones. I haven’t had any problem with tone size or length, but then I only have 3 tones so far. I will test this tonight.

SO far I have tried myxer, phonezoo. etc.
mobile 17 works, but you have to upload the ringtone and trim it down.
phonezoo works but you have to download to your pc, and then trim on audacity and email it.
Over all I’m cool with it.

I wish I had not checked my tracking number. I’ve been sitting here for 5 hours waiting for my damn SK to arrive (Out for delivery at 5:30am). I worked overnight, so I’m rather exhausted. I’m sure my phone is enjoying being chauffered around the city, but it needs to get here…now!
And haha, I’ve used Audacity many times for my hinge noises on my themes (and other people’s themes to make them louder). Good times.

The G1,SKLX9,Behold,Memoir,BB8900 and all new cells in the next few months use the same data plans.
People who still have kicks can continue to use their old ones instead of a new on.
G1 and SK uses the same software Qualcomm .

Everyone,those of you who didn’t receive any rebate in their package,you have to go on tmobilerebate.com.Problem is there’s none there!
So,t when tomrrow comes hopefully it will be or TMO gonna be misserable for not giving the customers those rebates.
If you have more than one,then print up more than one rebate from your printer.
If you don’t have a printer,go to the library and print it up and if you can’t do neither call TMO to work something out and remember this is their mess not ours.
Rebate will take up to 6-8 weeks for receive to arrive and the will be on Visa gift cards,which is cash.

I just got off the phone with T-Mobile and anyone having problems with the internet. It is a MAJOR issue and the advanced research team is working on it. they said anywhere from 24 hours to 72 hours(max 12 days). I will get a call when it is fixed and post here immediately. Calling T-Mobile will do NO good to fix your sidekick its just a major issue many are having sorry to bring the bad news
P.S. If you try to call t mobile non of the normal sidekick people know about this so if you don’t believe me ask to go to the advanced technical group and they will share the information i just said all we can do is wait =[….I have waited long enough.

Seems like sidekicks data is always out or something. There is always drama with the signal and or the antenna. Hopefully they will get it worked out. When you are in a high coverage area for example NYC, The Bay Area etc even then coverage seems to be spotty at times guys in my opinion it is a sidekick thing.

The same thing happened to me! We did the whole reboot thing but the problem remained. I spent 45 mins talkin to a rep just for her to tell me to wait 24 to 72 hours for a confirmation or something. LOL so true. I had to wait outside my house for mine. If not the guy would’ve just knocked like once, and then left immediately. He looked like he was rushing too. He just gave me the package, made me sign, and left running to his truck. I mean, it was 6:45pm when he got there and they’re supposed to finish at 7:00pm, but damn he sure was in a hurry.

Picked one up today before work at 9am. Out the door at 9:20. Over the Air applications installed automatically on the way to work.
1st thoughts?
-Noticable larger dimensions (because of the incredible HUGE new screen)
-Very thin and light.
Next thing i’m going to do is upload a picture to my Facebook account. That was my deal-breaker.

l i s t e n….. i am not the one to be leaving negative comments on this site in this forum, but i dont know know if its me, but i am not really not feeling the new lx 09…. Its either i dont like it because my expectation was too high or i am just use to the lx 07
ok, let me break it down….
PROS:
keyboard = i love the lx 09 keyboard, its nice, soft, and flat. i find it better to type on the lx 07.
screen = the screen is a tad bit bigger which is good, it has more color than the lx07… so when they say the resolution is better, it simply mean that the color is more defined.
the design = i find the design sleek, a bit lighter than the lx 07, the back does feel soft like a baby bottom. (CONS: dont like how the screen is not flush with the phone (which is the reason why they made the magnet stronger), the magnet is extra strong, so you have to “Kick it real good”
AIM = I have noticed that i can see a GIF file move in someone’s icon pic, which i found to be pretty cool, other than that, it is the same as the lx 07.
speaker = The speaker is a bit louder, i have to admit that. (CONS: maybe its me… but the headset seems to be weaker than the lx07 because i have noticed the sound is not as loud on the lx09 headset compared to the lx07 headset.
Programs = I found it cool that they automatically included (Twitter, MYspace, facebook, and MS Live maps) Those are definitely free and no monthly charge.
MoodLights = There is really only ONE long moodlight on the top of the screen that divides into 3.. depending on how it responds to what you are doing on the device. (CONS: its still only blue, and its not as wide as the moodlights from the lx07, not as many.)
EMAIL attachments: I dont like how they make certain pics extra small in your inbox that were originally a tad bit bigger on the lx 09.
ITS BASICALLY A souped up VERSION of the lx07, hence, lx09. For instance, i was expecting something really new with this device, like a major difference from the sk3 Vs. sklx. >>>> ONE THING I DIDNT UNDERSTAND…. is if it just a souped up version, how come you cannot transfer over your programs (games, ringtones, etc.) to the new device.
For some strange reason, i feel like i am in tuned with the lx 07 more than the lx09 right now.. maybe i need to get use to this device. one thing i do know when i first got the lx 07 and compared it to the sk3, i instantly knew there was a change…. funny enough this was before the update with the video.
to me, its ok… i guess i have to get use to it. i think i want a phone with crazy applications, or something because this phone feels just like a communication device, and on top of it the 3G is in and out. SMH.
I might write some more if i notice anything else about this phone, but for now.. i am thinking about what else phone is there thats good on the market.

what i find interesting is… you can use themes from the lx07 on the lx 09….. maybe i need to try a lx09 theme on the lx 09 just to see the difference, i dont want to mess anything up. however, so far the lx 07 theme works great on the lx 09.
if it wasnt for the 19.99 data plan, i think i would have had another phone by now.
i guess you get what you pay for, look at how we still cant get a good connection.
its not the connection, its the phone because i switched to my lx 07 and realize the G works perfect..
i went to network options on the lx09 and try to set it to G as oppose to automatic and its still acting the same way.
im doing the wireless on and off thing, just so i wont lose my messages by cutting the device off completely or @ + 1 + 0. im on AIM and YAHOO and i dont want to lose messages that are coming to me right now.

I also like how the TRACK BALL LIGHT is BRIGHTER than the lx 07… thats cool. The Mood lights should have been on ALL 4 SIDES of the screen since they put it on the screen now.

Data has been spotty here in Northern VA since yesterday, but only on the 09. My 08 and LX 07 both work fine. Weird.
Anybody else notice any weird pulsing or cracking when on the phone. Voice quality was pretty bad. The louder speaker just makes all the flaws of the 07 more noricable in that department. Plus it is awkward to talk on with the speaker recessed the way it is.
Twitter integration is amazing and has been flawless when I have had data. Love the screen and keyboard. Texts have been quicker than the other kicks too.
I’m still debating on if I’m keeping this thing. 200 plus a contract extension seems a little steep for this thing.

My ‘G’ has been hit or miss as well over here in Buffalo (no 3g…anyone have any idea when we might be getting it?).
I’ve been able to do a few things (IE upload a photo to facebook, as well as update my status and reply to a message or two), emailed myself a sound effect (AKA ringtone…no, I haven’t used it yet), but I haven’t gotten a single website to load yet.
And on the topic of “conditioning the battery”, I killed it, completely. It shut down twice, to which I restarted it both times until it started up no more! Now, I have 1 battery bar left and it’s been off the charger for only like 5 or 6 hours. Did i screw up? Or is it due to the phone trying too hard to connect to the network? (PS I’ve only used the camera for like 20 mins, and kept my texts to a minimum).
Lastly…(I haven’t checked all the comments above)…anyone else notice that poweredbydanger.com is down? Spotty network and Danger boards down? Not a good sign…

Mine was the same way. Took forever to index my memory card when I first put it in (which was the first time I booted the bad boy up and DLed all the social networks and calculator). I did a soft reset and everything is better now (outside of the network ****).

I try to go on download.com for a special software,the page went all the way to the right and I’m like wth.
I charged battery up for 4 hrs this morning and lasted me 12 hrs with me playing on it and so on.
I download some songs into the media the sound is pretty good even if your in a short distance in room.

Suposedly there’s a problem with mms as I’ve read and have to call TMO CC to fix and update it.

Go into your settings,scroll down to Network Options and you’ll have automatic,GSM/EDGE only and then off.It may be slower but it may help you in the long run for now.
Plus you can turn off data roaming if you like,someone complained by using Twitter data roaming charges were used but I don’t think that will happen with us.Plus don’t delete all 3 apps or you’ll have to buy them to reuse them again.
TMOnews.com just posted a blog about the 3G coming to who’s town a big list mostly TX and CA,but doesn’t mean you don’t live in the area you won’t get 3G.
To those who didn’t recieve a rebate don’t let CC tell you that the rebate is online,yes this model is on the list but it’s not available to us.Go to your TMO store to get one and if you can’t,bug them,tell them you can’t do either or hopefully they’ll give you credit.THE ONLINE REBATE IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR SKLX09,tell them to investigate further into it with you on the phone.

i got this phone 3 days ago an it just starte doing this BS and wont stop so i call tmo and they are sending me a new phone … i had bt on and son sent me a few pics …i shut bt off and thats when this **** started happening … evrytime it restarts bt shows on so i shut it then get black screen green writing big red x flashes then shuts down and reatsrts… keeps doing this every minute or so… so i take out the memory card and now it works fine …wtf ????? soon as i put memory card back in the same shiz starts all over again ….
