so i just called up tmobile and i had a talk with a represenitive there
and she told me that they sidekick 3 came out today in select stores
and they had a little training with it today
also
if you look at the http://www.sidekick.com website and go to sweet hook ups for an upgrade it tells you when you can upgrade

no the screen is the exact same as the sk2. and no there is no MMS if you use tmobile as your provider. if you have any other provider than tmobile then you can use MMS

So here’s a question. If you knew the location to the store in NY that will provide upgrades on the 28th would you go there on that day just to be the first to have it on that exact day? Or would you just call Customer Care at midnight to order it and wait till they ship it?
Note: Going to the store means you will actually get it on June 28 without waiting for shipping. But it probably ensures that you will be waiting on a long line. Also, the store’s supply may be gone by the time its your turn…and by that time Customer Care’s supply might be gone as well.
So what would you do?

I also called T-Mobile Customer Service (18009378997; handset 611) and they confirmed what you had generously let us all know.
According to the rep I spoke to, the Sidekick 3 will have Multimedia Messaging and Text Messaging enabled and unlimited multimedia messaging would be included in the data plan.

1. It says it will cost $349.99, I suppose this is for new customers. If thats true then very good news for already subscribed SK2 customers.

Sidekick 3 On Sale Next Week
Yesterday, 11:00 PM source: T-Mobile
T-Mobile today officially announced the Sidekick 3. The latest version is what was shown in FCC filings. New features include EDGE data, Bluetooth, a 1.3 Megapixel camera, music player and Mini SD card slot. Current T-Mobile subscribers will be able to purchase the Sidekick 3 via the web or in two select stores starting June 28. It will be available to the general public July 10. The handset will cost $300 with a 2 year contract, $350 with a 1 year contract, and $400 for prepaid subscribers.

ok guys, here is my dilema: I use to own the first Sidekick a long time ago. I currently am a Tmobile customer but do not use a Sidekick. There is no way in hell that they would let me upgrade the first sidekick, right? My contract is ending soon and I have a regular v600 cell with Tmobile but do u think I would be able to upgrade a phone that is not a sidekick? To be honest i’m really mad about the SK3. The improvements they made for it just suck. MP3 is the only good improvement that not all phones have. Everything else is what all other phone already have! bluetooth, a good camera (which on the horrible sk screen the pictures will look bad)…i waited and waited for the sk3 to come out hoping that it would be better than all the other phones and it isnt, they barely caught up. No MMS no video, bad screen, huge in size, and still not a real web browswer since you cannot watch video clips, that’s sad. I have had all of the sidekicks, not colored, colored and now the 2. Like i said i waited for the 3 hoping it would be better and it isn’t. Screw MP3 all it does is run your battery down, i’ll just use my PSP for music. MDA here i come…and i’m more excited about that than the sk3! Someone let me know when the SK4 is comming out…maybe they can figure something out by then!

The deciding factor for me will be whether the new email client has proper support for IMAP folders, because most of my email is sorted into folders and nested folders on an IMAP server, but the SKII only has basic support for IMAP and can’t do folders.

anyway, the price Advertised on G4’s TechTV “Attack of the Show” is $349.99. Companies (such as T-Mobile) usually don’t advertise the higher price. I believe that when T-Mobile advertises prices, they advertise it with a 1 year contract and a new plan.
So I’m going to rest at that the Sidekick 3 will cost $349.99 for new T-Mobile customers signing with a 1 year contract.
For already existing T-Mobile customers take another $100 off of that to upgrade and for already existing T-Mobile customers with Sidekick II’s to trade in for the upgrade, expect another $100 right off the top. I’m expecting to pay $150-200 for the upgrade but definitely no more than that. — Not official, just speculating on past pricing trends.
Paige, the Sidekick doesn’t require to you purchase a new plan if you are already with T-Mobile.
amazin, I don’ think they’ll let you upgrade your old sidekick if that’s not the one you’re currently using. maybe though, call Customer Service and ask them.

Ok, how many times do I have to explain to people…it WILL HAVE MMS!!! and according to sk3.com (www.sidekickiii.com or http://www.sidekick.com) it will have a real web browser (not something like IE, but a good web browser), and per tmo reps it’s actually slimmer…*shrugs*
Now onto the plan details…According to tmo (I know this because I’ve upgraded plans and phones numerous times) whenever you change something with your account albeit a new phone or upgrading your Family plan to the 2000 minutes instead of the 1000, you will be under a new contract from that day on until your contract runs out. (make sense?)
Equipment protection should be included. When my mom and dad got the V360s they had just come out and they had equipment protection on those…but it is a handheld, so it might be different…
And where in the hell are you people getting these prices? Not even the tmo reps know the pricing until the day that the damned phone is released to us…so whatever prices that you people THINK that you know, shove them somewhere until you hear the price from the tmo reps on the day that the phone is launched…

how many times do people have to tell you that it will NOT have MMS? the phone itself does support MMS but tmobile will not support it. Go to the manual and click on MMS and it says that the top that it depends on the company if MMS will be on the phone. Tmo will NOT have MMS on the SK3!!! i called earlier today and asked them tons of questions about this kind of stuff and that’s why i realized that the MDA is a much better choice. Touch screen, camera with zoom, much better high quality screen, music through windows media, REAL web browsing, and you can watch videos, and you get MMS on the thing! haha I just ordered my MDA and can’t wait to get it! One of the things that the MDA doesn’t have is downloadable games, but i don’t play games on mine so that doesn’t really matter to me, but to others it might. If anyone doesn’t believe me about the MMS thing, just call Tmo and ask them…they will tell you what they told me…

yeah it does say that because you’re looking at the User Manual on DAGER’S server. If you were to be a smart person, you would call T-Mobile Customer Service and ASK if MMS will be available. And just as smubound and myself have told you it will be available, according to the customer service rep at T-Mobile.
