Blah blah blah. Whatever. The phone is cool we expected it to be cool. It has to be cool to appeal to its target market. The way it turns on. Woooo…. aaaaaah…. wow. It still doesn’t have wifi!! Lol.
But seriously… I love kicks. I’m using my kick to post this. I can’t watch the vid but that’s the price of having a kick. No vid on te lx and limitations on how long you can record. Its all good. I can dig it. It always takes the kick a while to catch up. We didn’t get video until the last minute. And even then it had to come over the air. Lol.
I’m going to buy this side kick and after that I’m going to get the latest android. Whatever that will be when the time comes. I will see yall tomorrow. I’m out

I have been checking the reference number on UPS website everyday. Nothing yet! I hope they ship these soon! Hopefully they ship them in the same order they received the orders!!!!

i dont understand why people are upset about the price, remember back in the day when the RAZR came out and it was $500 and everyone and their momma wanted one, and now its free when u get a line with anyone.
$500 is a reasonable price, thats the average cost of a phone check any website, they just add discounts as well as a MIR and it gives the illusion of being cheaper. it has the exact same features of the G1 minus the touch screen, but if touch screen is the standard now then ive had it since i was 12 when my dad had a PDA that was touch. i dont think touch is the standard i think screen resolution and camera pixels, also user friendly and SHORTCUTS!
Which is the best thing about the kick press three buttons and ur got there not like on the G1 where u have to run around to find the player, the web, bluetooth basically everything u have to press 600 thousand different buttons to get to. also people tend to forget that with open OS u have a higher chance of the app you download to mess up your phone. like on my friends G1 he downloaded an app to help him send mass texts (WTF?) and every time he does something a fail message comes up about how Android crashed. Also with the iPhone i downloaded alot of apps and they crash my phone, every time i have to restart my phone to get it to work, its ridiculous!
POINT IS DON’T BE HATEN IF YOU CANT GET IT NOW; WAIT UNTIL THE PRICE DROPS LIKE ALL NEW PHONES DO.

I have been thinking. If my wife and I get iphones it would be 30 dollars each for data, and then family 15 for family unlimited messages/ email/ texts.
That’s a total of $75 for data and messaging.
I’m paying $40 with tmobile for the same thing…

im in a bigger city with more people. my lifestyle is not the kind to warrent having all these social apps anymore. i am an adult. i have bills. i have kids. i have a real job now. i also have very little time to be as social as it would require for me to make use of the social network apps that come with the phone. if i could delete twitter than it would be great. i dont really use the social sites any more because im not as personally social as i used to be.
i would like to see things like wifi on the thing. the ablity to connect to my work vpn so i can log into my computer at work and work from anywhere, even while im taking a dump. lol. and it like to see a useful word processor. and some other things.
like i said before. im going to buy this one when it comes out and that will be the end of it. when its time to replace the lx 09 i will be moving on to a less user friendly phone to a more powerful one that can do the things that my adult lifestyle would be better suited for. i am a sidekick og. i have the og plan, i have had a sidekick since the sidekick 2 and i know everything there is to know about sidekicks. i know all the little tricks, i know how to refurbish them, i have a white sidekick. nobody else i know has spent the effort to refubish theit own sidekick and customize its shell. look it up on ebay. there are sites that sell the parts so that you can take yours apart and put all the guts in another housing. you can shoose any color you want. mine is all white with the origional blue buttons because thats how i wanted it.
i was about to have it unlocked and hacked with a nintendo game emulator so i could play those old nintendo games but the phones processor is too slow and it makes the game look slow and it slows the phone down to a crawl. i found a better cameta that actually fit the sidekick but it makes no difference because it requires the drivers to be updated. i use my phones usb cord to boot my own operating system when i go to use public computers or to just show off when i carry my laptop. i partitioned the mem card in the phone just for that.
and to proove it i will tell you how to do it:
download the bootable file for linux from any website that has it
download puppylinux from puppylinux.com
format and partition your memcard using linux partitioning software
transfer the boot file and the puppylinux iso to your memcard
when you boot your computer press the cmos key before post
make the computer usb bootable
plug in your usb cord(with phone)
restart the computer and watch what happens
linux will find all the drivers and everything you need
once you have done all this you can get on the web and in combination with google apps you now have a very powerful set of tools at your hand
i like to do this in places that dont let me use the computer without a username and password
my love for sidekicks has turned me in to something else. if i continue to look for ways to be more of a sidekick lover than i will have to become a programmer and a hacker because i will find ways to make the kick do what i want it to do
but im getting tired of having to nearly hack my kick just to be able to put a pictire of my kid on it as a background.
does anybody understand where im coming from here or is this very lond post falling on a bunch of young def ears??
i want the kick to come back to the power users like back in the day when a sidekick was a high tech device.
now the g1 has taken its place at tmobiles premier phone because it does everything that i have mentioned above way way way easier!!
there are sites deadicated to the hacking of g1’s!! the phone is a wonderful thing. the fact that its open just makes it all the more better. why cant i make a pic a background from the menue of my sidekick?? why do i have to go to a weblite and export a file to it to make a pic a background?? why do i have to make an entire theme just to see my kid when i look at my phone?? is it too much to ask??
i can boot an entire operating system from it using the usb cable to it but i cant make a pic a background?? it doesnt have wifi? its the sidekick that make me want to explore technology to this magnitude and not the teacher has become the master and i have to leave the sidekick family after this kick because its just not enough anymore. i dont need social networks. i need a real “smart phone” the fact that smartphones are now the norm and this thing claims to be a smart phone and cant be used in the corporate world is laughable by todays standards. hopefully microsoft will bring it back to the nerds and restore life to the legendary sidekick.

its just plain silly when i pull out this thing in the confrence room in meetings. i look around and see treos, iphones, blackberries, G1’s, htc devices, one guy has a samsung with windows! real windows! not windows mobile. i dont know where he got it from but its a phone that folds in 3places and has a screen that swivels (not like the sidekick swivel at all) and its a really bad @$$ phone. there are nokia communicators in the meetings and when everybody shows up and starts to put their phones on the table i look really really silly putting mine next to me but im proud or my kick because of the way that i use mine. i have to make up for the lack of its power by being clever, but im going to give it up.
i show up to work on a honda cbr 600. im already different. my phone would be shameful if i wasnt clever about how i use it at work. my coworkers come into my office and pull out their iphones and start to do that cool iphone stuff and then i have to show them the new stuff i put on the operating system i have made bootable on my phone.
im hanging in there. its boys with toys and im not loosing because i am clever but im really running out of tricks here. the phone has limitations and i have pushed the phone to its limits. being able to copy and paste from the web browser is not so impressive anymore.
dont get me wrong. i love the sidekick. its what pushed me to get into this “tech geek” stuff and its why i am even in a corporate office in the first place. so the kick means more to me than it prob means to anyone that visits this site but if i cant get a phone that will let me take better pics, make backgrounds, let me get on the vpn at work with wifi than im going to throw my kick on the freeway while im doing 100 on my cbr and replace it with a g1 that i can hack to load a mobile linux os and still get on the vpn with and make my kid a background pic!

I was told by a t-mobile customer service person (I called t-mobile) . That I can pay $250 with a $50 rebate. I’m happy I don’t have to pay the full price. Anyway, I think it’s on a 2 year contract. I’m going to get the sidekick 2009 at the end of May. So happy right now.
