Appletech over at PoweredByDanger has posted up a new batch of screenshots of the Sidekick LX 2009, and we’ve collected them for you.

Ok here is what I am thinking if they can sell the phone for $199.99 they make a profit. If they sell it for $419 they make a HUGE profit! Am I missing something? I know they make money off the contracts and all but the sidekick requires one I dont get it!

your right, but what i think that people are getting is that not most people want to spend $419 on a phone, look at the price its just ridiculous… and i think that all tmobile customers should be able to upgrade and get the 199.99 deal, i came back in february in a family plan to get this phone so for the meantime i got a little samsung and now im kinda sad because i waited months for this phone and the price is just to high.

i mean the sidekick is a good solid phone, but it doesn’t have that special spark to it. The sidekick would forever be the best instant messaging device. As far as features, it would be forever behind other phones like iphone and idk etc. It never comes out with ground breaking or revolutionary technology. that’s why for me it doesn’t have that spark it had when we all hype it up like months ago. the only thing fully throwing me to the iphone band wagon is the sidekick’s unlimited everything plan ( 34.99 a month) vs the iphone 40 something data plan*. I MOST SAY when telling my father about which phone should i get. he basically said ” the iphone is a better looking phone, the sidekick…………(shaking his head)” coming from something born in 1962 lol i find it interesting
*probably off by a couple of dollars in the iphone rate plan.

check the communities jump screen and the twitter screen, they happened in the same minute, logically one would think the jump screen came before the twitter screen and the battery icon gained one bar on the twitter screen…
but either way theres a lightning bolt on that battery icon on all but 2 of those screenshots, lol. and the 2 without it show a “full” battery.

Man, I have had sidekicks for so long since 2002. When flextronics used to manufacture the hiptop black and white.
I have seen them evolve, and since the SK3 the evolution has been very disappointing.
I’m not trying to bring you guys down. I just hope this one rocks my world.
I am 7 years older and am more picky about features and specs.
Most of you are new to the kick, but for us veterans we really need something to WOW us.
Anyway, Has anyone had any luck tracking the shipment via reference #?

I’ve been with sidekick forever, I had the first sidekick and all others up until the sidekick 3.
I hated that phone and sent it back after a handful of days with it.
Enjoyed my sidekick 2 up until it finally gave out on me. I didn’t think the LX and Slide were worth to me what they were charging so I got a samsung trace, good phone (but texting hell) found an opportunity to get a Slide for $50 and took it (they had just returned online from the battery fiasco)
Its worked relatively well for me, it was so cheap I can’t complain.
I am most likely gonna get the new LX or whatever new ones this year. I didn’t use my upgrade to get the slide so I can still get it for the 199. I have the OG $20 data plan and that carrying over to 3g cements that I will dabble with some sort of 3g sidekick

Yes, the phone was charging during the screenshots. It didn’t loose 75% of the battery life in five minutes. My battery usually lasts me a full day and then some.

the MS Live Search app that will be released after the device launches will have turn-by-turn nav, but it won’t act like a full GPS unit and automatically track you through the route. You have to manually step through the route as you make turns. The iPhone and G1 function this way too (static turn-by-turn nav).

Click a thumbnail above to view a single picture, then click the photo again to view the fullsize image. If you have LX or ‘08, switch to full size layout mode and zoom into the image if needed to view details you may not be able to see otherwise.

I do know that, but that doesn’t even matter on the iPhone if the the webpage you are looking at is still only loading the image at less than 50% actual size. You still need to click the iamge to load the full image on the phone. Otherwise you’re just zooming in to an already pixelated image.

Unfortunately I don’t know the details on what will be available catalog when the device launches other than Twitter, Myspace, Photobucket, and Facebook. The MS Live Search app I believe launches shortly after the device is released.

we all know the sidekick is going to be a averaged rated phone. you are 100% right about the sidekick over g1 when g1 is obvious better phone. As you can see I’m some what soul searching to replace my sidekick usage, because I’m tired of feeling as if I’m using window 95 while everyone else is using Vista. The only thing i can do is wait. See asfar as what everyone else is saying about it couldn’t be done on those current models its all lye’s, because for I have a friend who has a phone on the current edge system and he has access to youtube mobile. Now mind you his phone has wifi but its not on that paticular setting.but yet he can still watch youtube videos and family guy and whatever else his heart desires. my point is this its only a money issue asfar putting out an ota to fill that void for older model customers or do they continue with future projects like the upcoming lx09 and god knows what else because they know they can make a lot of money with the new features on a shiny new kick with the same funtionality. So I really wouldn’t hold my breath for an ota for the 08 and lx

i dont understand why people are upset about the price, remember back in the day when the RAZR came out and it was $500 and everyone and their momma wanted one, and now its free when u get a line with anyone.
$500 is a reasonable price, thats the average cost of a phone check any website, they just add discounts as well as a MIR and it gives the illusion of being cheaper. it has the exact same features of the G1 minus the touch screen, but if touch screen is the standard now then ive had it since i was 12 when my dad had a PDA that was touch. i dont think touch is the standard i think screen resolution and camera pixels, also user friendly and SHORTCUTS!
Which is the best thing about the kick press three buttons and ur got there not like on the G1 where u have to run around to find the player, the web, bluetooth basically everything u have to press 600 thousand different buttons to get to. also people tend to forget that with open OS u have a higher chance of the app you download to mess up your phone. like on my friends G1 he downloaded an app to help him send mass texts (WTF?) and every time he does something a fail message comes up about how Android crashed. Also with the iPhone i downloaded alot of apps and they crash my phone, every time i have to restart my phone to get it to work, its ridiculous!
POINT IS DON’T BE HATEN IF YOU CANT GET IT NOW; WAIT UNTIL THE PRICE DROPS LIKE ALL NEW PHONES DO.

i’m lost…. my friend has his phone that lets him go on youtube, there’s no 3g or wi-fi and his screen is half the screen of my LX. but rahrah24 is right they wouldn’t put out an OTA for the older models knowing that they could loose money but about a month before the 08 they sent out OTA’s so they might do something….. or at least i hope.

I have noticed the past 3weeks that my browser speed has improved.. Not sure why? Maybe danger has upgraded their servers to handle all the new sidekicks that will be purchased by new customers, and their respectve data plans.
Nevertheless, I’m enjoying the load speeds!
To the post about battery life deminishing. I haven’t noticed anything different. Have you been leaving on your instant messaging? Do you have your brightness way high? You have tyo cycle your battery often. Meaning you use it until it completely dies, and then charge it completely on a wall charger. Not a car or usb computer cable.
I keep my kick at 3 brightness, and have my aim on text message alert, unless I’m on an aim spree.

As a member of the developer community, they just made the new 5.0 Devkit availabe a few weeks ago. There should be a small amount of apps available at launch while apps are ported to 5.0
We share (amongst ourselves) new apps in the form of bndl files, but you can only run these in the emulator, unless you have a key. The only way you get a key, is if you create a functional app and submit it to QA for approval. Then and only then can you test it on your device.
As for what is released, it all depends on tmo and danger quality team.
People have made some sick apps that never made it to the catalog. Many apps are delayed too, example Twitter was created sooooooo freaking long ago.
That is where my gripe begins, there should be MINIMIMAL QA involvement, and FREE and DEMO/Lite apps should be allowed into the catalog. They just have to make money on everything.
The only reason why you got livesearch for free, is because they offered it for free on blackberry and winmo devices.
Hopefully, with Micro taking over the danger and it’s backend, they will allow free and demo apps to be downloaded (remember, every byte of data that is downloaded is taking up precious bandwidth which costs money…

Here are some FACTS And QUESTIONS in Regards to the LX 09.
1. For those of you who assume web browsing in the lx 09 IS supported by flash think again. According to hiptop 3 forums, it’s explicitly stated that the web browsing for the LX09 is NOT SUPPORTED BY FLASH. Here is the link: http://www.hiptop3.com/archives/category/sidekick-2009/
With that being said, If web browsing on the Lx09 is STILL not supported by Flash will this deprive full access to “real web browsing performance (e.g. Streaming videos from youtube and or other related site sources)?
2. There are rumors speculating the possibility of a small charge or fee rendered for the GPS Application supported by Microsoft. Is this true?(please provide facts, not opinions as i have provided link above)
3. I’ve been a Tmobile customer as well as a Sidekick holder since the 2nd generation. I’m currently debating if whether i should instead purchase the G2 Android phone. I am a bit skeptical as to how well the Lx09 perfom with it’s upgraded 3G network. I do admire the fact in which Sharp/danger still adheres to “flip phone/ slide” realm. However, questions procure in whether this new device “sidekick Lx 09″ will have slight advantages over the G2 Android phone which to the best of my knowledge release early this summer. (Please feel free to discuss this topic in depth if you please, after all this is a forum discussion). Thank You.
