Sidekick 2009 Visitors to Hiptop3.com

Want more proof of the Sidekick 2009 being out in the wild? Check out this entry in our server’s log files:
216.220.208.186 – – [09/Feb/2009:19:40:34 -0500] “GET / HTTP/1.0” 200 68967 “-” “Mozilla/5.0 (Danger hiptop 5.0; U; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050920”
What does that mean? Well the User Agent (aka web browser name) of “Danger hiptop 5.0” means someone with a Sidekick 2009 visited hiptop3.com as recent as Feb 9th. We checked some older logs and there’s a ton of visits in the past few weeks too. Not only does this confirm that there are devices out there, it also confirms that it’s running DangerOS 5.0. “Gecko” refers to a codename for the browser. Other devices also show this code in sitelogs.

I want to know when this will come out. I think soon, since they no longer sell sidekick lx (Blue) and are just finishing up on their inventory. I just wanted to know if anyone knew of a solid time period?

It kinda sucks that they keep releasing new devices this often, as many of us are in 2yr contracts with t-mobile. I really like the device but I am barely into my contract (since October) and im sure many more are in the same situation… In my opinion they should give us customers a bit of extra time to let our contracts expire, so we can have a chance at the new phones without having to pay full or semi-discounted price (instead of fully discounted as it should be)

ROTFLMFAO! I love Dan’s “IDK (I don’t care) what everyone else thinks”! Way to be “discourtious,” THUMBS UP! Hahaha! And why should you care, you make a good point. It is a recession. Hell I might be on a SK (20)10 next instead of this since my contract doesn’t expire tell then and my LX is working fine. But we’ll see I guess. Maybe Obama will roll out a bail-out for us regular people, otherwise I’m thinking a lot of people will be a little short. And I’m wondering what the price will be on this also, hmmm….

haha its pry gonna be like 350 i bet with features like that shit i would be surpised if it was over 300 with a 2 yr agreement but my contract is up this month so ill just wait till the 09 comes out and get another 2 yr! i paid full price on my lx cuz i dgaf if i want something then ill get it ya dig!

No way, best thing about the iPhone is that its created a new ceiling for phone prices in general. You still get some that are more expensive but for the most part, ‘feature phones’ aren’t going to top $200 with contract anymore.

I’m no t trying to be a dick but anyone can fake a useragent easily.
You can even download a firefox extension and create your own unique useragent in less then 5 minutes.
I believe the blade is out and that devs have them, I just wouldn’t bet 100% that someone was visiting this site from one
It’s possible just not highly probable, sorry to be overly logical. :]
I have had a sidekick for awhile just due to the bang for the buck price, and amazing keyboard. Yet it has long awaited a REAL update. This one will at least be better then anything since the upgrade from Sidekick Classic to the Sidekick 2.

True, but they’d also have to fake coming from a Danger ip, more specifically a trial ip since 216.220.208.186 resolves to sq1pat.trial.danger.com. Also based on the patterns we saw (multiple referrers, multiple visits, etc) we consider them to be real and not just some prankster.

To Ricky Bobby, I agree with everything you just said! Even the contract thing (next February is when mine expires also). Love my LX also, and you know what? It’s better often to NOT get a new SK when it first comes out, that was a) you don’t ahve to pay full price (usually) and b) hopefull any glitches will be fixed before you buy it (the “got to have it NOW” people can do the work for the rest of us with some patience). And off-topic, I know it’s been out for a while but I just got to seeing your movie over the weekend, BEST MOVIE EVER MADE! Way to go! Shake and Bake, lol!

um. i read that this phone is coming out Fall 2009. not april. im sick of my LX. i’ve had it since it was released in 2007. the 08 was pointless to LX users since it pretty much offered the same features &. had the update from summer 2008. so i didnt bother getting the 08. i was close to making my decision towards the G2 but unfortunately it’s also a rumor. so i guess the blade is it? it’d be best for me in Fall ; my upgrade is due for around then.

i just hope this thing comes to australia.
i was really hoping the LX would come down here, but to my dismay the unit has apparently been discontinued.. or at least not coming down here. (any one know about this??)
the slide was a bomb hence why i refuse to get it (plus i dont really like the phones, partly because they’re made my motorola), but hopefully this newie will sort that out! and at 3G speeds it will be widely sought after.

i got my LX in November of 07 so my contract should be up around Fall. So hopefully, this thing is as good as you guys are saying it should be because I’m sick of my LX. So many glitches with it.

OH no that noob payed 300 for his first sidekick. I’ve been using sidekicks since sidekick 2 and every single model (aside from slide and 2008) up to this point, and I always end up playing full price. And no, the price wont be 200. More like 400 retail.

So as of this week, I feel sick of the sidekick. I’ve had the sidekick 2, sidekick 3, and sidekick 08, and I feel like the sidekick has not progressed like many other phones. The browser has barely improved; there are sites that I have to use a friend’s blackberry because the sidekick’s browser can’t access it. I feel like every other phone is moving forward, and the sidekick is just standing still technologically. I used to looove my sidekick, now I’m just over it. I’m going to wait for the ’09 to come out to see if the sidekick has finally caught up to other smart phones, but if it hasn’t, I’m switching to the Samsung touch screen phone
