Sidekick Catalog Remains Down / Where To Get Ringtones & Themes
Life as a Sidekick user is starting to return to normal as T-Mobile/Microsoft/Danger slowly announce each piece of data that is restorable as they make progress. We’ve gotten back Address Books, Calendars, To Do Lists, Notes, and most recently Photos. I know a lot of people are still waiting on Bookmarks and I imagine that will be next in line. However one of the hallmarks of the Sidekick is still missing and we haven’t heard any word on when it will return.
I’m of course talking about the Download Catalog, aka the first App Store. The Catalog has been down for over a month and this sucks both for Sidekick users as well as Sidekick Developers. I’m sure T-Mobile is feeling the hurt too as a large source of their income from Sidekick users comes from selling applications, ringtones and themes.
While there are no other ways to get applications (save having a developer key), it is possible to get ringtones and themes while the catalog is down from unofficial sites. Themes for most Sidekicks can be found at Sidekick Themes and if you have a Sidekick LX 2009 you can get free ringtones at Skringers.com.
UPDATE (2009-11-11): We’re hearing through the grapevine that the Download Catalog may be up by Saturday if things go well! Keep your fingers crossed.

this is such b.s and that upgrade did not fix anything at all. its about time danger allows users to create their own ringtones on ALL sidekicks!!! after all the cr*p they put loyal sidekick users through its only right. today you have phones like the iphone, g1, mytouch, etc that can do so much and yet danger refuses to allow sidekick users to create their own ringtones on ALL sidekicks its ridiculous and goes to show the sidekick era is coming to an end.

i tried sending ringtones through email like ive done in the past and it doesnt give any option to save as rington….though i can save as ringtone when its sent through mms…so clearly not everything is back to normal

Maybe the songs are not 32kbps that’s why its not working… got to sidekickzone.com get themes ringtones and etc for your sidekick lx 09… you send the the song to your email that’s linked to your phone account like your yahoo and then once you get it should be able to save as a ringtone

If you aren’t using a Sidekick LX 2009 you can’t add ringtones thanks to T-Mobile’s decision to not allow it. You can only add ringtones with the Sidekick LX 2009.

Same here lol I dropped my lx 09 by accident and my battery flung out. I put it back in and when I turned it on it said my old applications were ready to install.

ok when i try to buy a theme it says “unable to download content blocking is active” what does this mean? am i the only one with this problem?

I switched to my sidekick II 2 a couple of weeks ago, since the new sk lxs have so much worthless memory wasting space they freeze every other hour, anywho when I went to my catalog to my downloads and it showed myspace app, but uninstalable and isn’t in the purchase part of the catalog, this happen to anyone else?

Not having luck with the catalog at all. Most of the things I click on won’t even prewiew and everything that’s free or new, says currently unavailable….its been a couple weeks like that. Any suggestions (besides getting a better phone that lets me do things lol)

So I have a question. Is there any possible way for me to update my original Sidekick LX’s OS? I currently have v4.6 and was wondering if I can get the 5.0 or atleast upgraded from the 4.6 . And I have received any OTA’s in while, so is this possible?
