Yes! We all got what we’ve been waiting for! Just to find glitches in the system. Lol. But on the up side…it is a really nice phone!!! Im not dissappointed in the look at all nor the features! So far I’m loving this phone, there are a few glitches (which will hopefully be taken care of in an OTA), but aside from that its quite lovely. I have the orchid (its really just dark purple) and its just wonderful to look at. Enjoy!

i hate tmobile i bought the phone for 500, i canceled my order right wen i bought it again for 200 less,they had told me that the canceled phone was the 500 dollar phone.on may 12 i hadnt recieved my phone, i called they said they never canceled my 500 dollar order and i had never ordered it for 200 less even though i had recieved a text saying i payed 293.64 and they have no idea where the 500 dollar phone was, now its may 13 and i dont have the phone so there was no point in preorder

Got flexpay and its 4 payments of $50 Also, I was 12 months into my 24 month existing contract and was not eligible for an upgrade! There are deals to be had….gotta love customer retention haha!

The only “complaints”, Dave, is that the network was (I believe) possibly “overwhelmed” with everyone jumping aboard. (or people not getting their phone cause T-Mo is trying to shaft them).

I am thinking about taking the Orchid back for a G1. I personally LOVE sidekicks… but this one just is NOT worth the $480 I paid for it. I could have gotten the G1 for much cheaper… :/ So at least I’ll get back about $100 or so.
And is it just me, or does the battery seem to get REALLY hot when it’s charging? My old sidekick never did, and it seems the battery runs out VERY quickly. Which, again, is not something my old sidekick lx did :/

I got it today and I’m pretty damn happy with it right now. The display is really nice and crisp. I live further out in the suburbs and I don’t get 3G here, but even so I don’t think it’s taken more than 10 sec to buffer a youtube clip. Quality isn’t the best but the video/audio is synced up fine, and maybe an OTA can upgrade the flash client. The browser is better for me thanks to the added functionality to pan across pages, so now it feels more like a “real” browser if I want it to.
I am experiencing some crackling/popping on some audio, may have to do with the compression, because it’s only happening on video playback and old audio texts. My recorded ringtones sound fine though, no matter how loud they are. I like how much thinner and lighter the phone is compared to my old SK slide, and like I said the display is a huge upgrade for me. I’m looking forward to when I head to work tomorrow, since it’s well within 3G land, and seeing how much of a difference it is.
The new SK has most of the features the iphone offers that I’m personally looking for, and it’s 30 bucks a month cheaper for me. The iphone is definitely ****, but I’m not drawn in just for the name and its looks like some people I know did. As long as tmobile doesn’t jack up their data plan, I’m going to have no desire to pay more money to jump ship.

I gotta say when I first saw the lx09 I was so excited but after having it for a week I’m dissapointed. Maybe it’s because it’s the first week of release but there are no applacations. There is a subscriptions folder but it’s empty. Where is the support for ip relay? If there is none then this phone will not do well. Setting do not transfer over either. Maybe I’m nit picking but I’m going back to my old lx, don’t see any features that wow me enough to make me stay with the LX09.

I got mine a couple of days ago and to be honest it is going back to the T-Mob.
The texting and “messenger” side of the phone is great (despite the internet issues). The screen is amazing and the overall feel is pretty good. A tad thin on the screen (makes it difficult to kick it) and yes it is quite heavy compared to even the older, bigger LX. The keyboard also feels wrong. Too much space between keys I believe.
The “phone” side sucks though. My calls are not clear at all and since they jacked up the volume of the speaker (that is a good thing) the cracks, pops, and hisses the old LX and to some extent the 08 make are more notable.
I just can’t justify dropping 200 dollars on this (plus the contract extension). The price is too high for me. If the phone portion worked then I would be all good. Same with the GPS and the really terrible Live Search. Would it have killed M$ to integrate that bad boy like they did with the Twitter app. You download that communities **** too, so I don’t see the problem other than laziness. Why must I go and hap-hazardly deal with the GPS in another screen OUTSIDE of the app.
Also, does anyone elses really move slow through the jump screen? Everything takes like a half a second to move between options/screens. It just makes the whole thing feel sluggish.
I’m not saying the iPhone is the greatest phone (it’s not, the onscreen keyboard sucks big time), but it works where I need it to work. The calls are good, the messaging isn’t bad, and it never has problems with getting/maintaining a signal. Oh and yes, if you have it on T-Mobile, there is no reason why you shouldn’t have cut and paste on your iPhone. It is a simple option in Installer.
I will say, the Twitter app on the new LX is the greatest integration of Twitter I have ever seen. Every phone needs that. That one thing is the reason it took me a couple of days to decide to return it.
For those that are satisfied, I’m happy for you. This Sidekick is a definate improvement. I just don’t think it is “greatest” thing ever. Maybe I was expecting too much, but overall I had better call quality on my Sidekick 3 than this LX09 and I got the Sidekick 3 for 75 bucks when I joined the T-Mob.

sorry wrong post but i coulda still typed rather quickly on the iphone when i had it. i had the iphone 3g, that broke out of my stupidness. i then had the blackberry curve n even the blackberry curve is more advance than the sk. it has a great qwerty keyboard that i got used to in less than an hour. it got a decent screen. got far more apps than the sidekick. u can type up papers and email them thru words to go. u can download files from the internet. u can watch youtube (a bit laggy tho). u can make your own themes for it. got an okay camera. had video recording way before the sk did. blackberry messenger is great. jivetalk on blackberry is just like IM on Sks, maybe even better. u gotta pay for it but worth the money. better myspace app. free internet radio, u got apps stores to choose from instead of just one like the sidekick, GPS is a whole lot better than the SK, u can set up more email accounts than the SK. i like the SK and all. i loved it. i had one ever since the old SK but ive upgraded and got a taste of the better life (or phones). people r jus like stuck on these phones. give a week with a blackberry or iphone and yea, u wont look back on the SK. its jus a fashion trend, nothing more. i love you sidekicks but ive cheated on it and moved on.

I personally think the iPhone is a fashion trend, and I’m sure we’ll find something, or have found something to replace it already.
And I do agree, some things on the sidekick could have been upgraded, especially how many texts you can have… but, in the same context a lot of things have been switched around and upgraded.
Again, some people prefer certain things on their phone, and some people are attached to the Sidekick for certain reasons.
Fighting about Sidekick’s under achievements is not going to stop people from buying them, so there is no point to it

It’s true that most phones have caught up and some have surpassed the SK in features. The new LX doesn’t offer anything groundbreaking, but I still feel its a big jump up for me from my Slide. It’s still much cheaper for me to stay with SK than to get an iphone, and at least this one is respectable with some of the “latest” things out there.
The way I look at it, if you’re happy with the SK and feel comfortable using it, then who cares what other people think. I’ve had SKs since the SK2 and I’ve grown so accustomed to the style, it’s natural for me to knock out IMs, emails, texts, and web surfing like it’s nothing. I’ve used my cousin’s iphone quite a bit and while I love all the bells and whistles, I feel like I would get fed up with the style and the touchscreen in a matter of days. To each their own.

I see your having the same issue i had and unfortunately for sum reason no one replies to any questions i have … however we are in the same situation and basically tmobile screwed up and sum how ur order is on back order statues ( for the second order ) sounds fishy too me considering the date ordered (may 5th) but basically the only thing u can do is wait becuase its on back order there is no way for them to track it without a trackin number.. the only thing they can do is request a research 2 the warehouse on ur product ( since theres no trackin number it means its on back order) which sucks i feel ur pain i did the exact same thing and received the phone monday and had to refuse package and basically they dnt knw when the next set of phones will come in smh and theres no compensation for it even though the phone was promised the 12th and with their standard shipping policy ( 7 days max) the 14th at the latest…. so jus hang in there lol the only thing really for u to do is wait callin a rep is jus gunna piss u off cuz theyre clueless trust me lol

While I do understand the slew of praises (and complaints) about this new Sidekick, one must understand that there are always some issues upon the launch of a new device. I also think that people may have expected way too much from the Sidekick LX 2009. Remember, its a Sidekick for goodness sakes and it has always been known to be a few steps behind against other devices. Its nothing groundbreaking as with the previous editions. Sure, 3G was added and LIVE Search among a few – but at least its still a step up for the device as a whole. I do think that in a few more days or weeks, the device will get itself on track as far as the 3G connectivity and catalog issues resolved.
Do I think this phone is worth $449? H3LL NO. That is a complete ripoff. If you are really looking for a phone that’s going to do the job then I would say the G1 is the way to go. Sure you might experience a few forces closes with some applications, but overall its superb. At the end of the day it all boils down to what you like and look for in a phone.
I received my Sidekick LX 2009 yesterday and I have yet to open the box. As amatter of fact I just put it on my shelf. The reason being is that I’m hooked on my G1, but I plan to use the sk09 as a secondary back up phone if G1 fails or I just get tired of it. So far that hasn’t happened and that says a hell of a lot. I got the sidekick because it was on presale for 250 and figured since I wasn’t eligible for an upgrade anytime I might as well get it on sale.. Sure enough that presale price disappeared on launch date, so folks who were gearing up to get it for 249.99 were sh*t out of luck.
Ill wait a while before getting my sidekick on the network, hopefully by then its services and catalogs etc issues are resolved.

3G has been working just fine for me. I took a quick look at my area’s coverage on tmobile.com when I first got my phone just so I can assess how accurate it is. As far as I can tell I gain and lose 3G coverage exactly where I’m supposed to.
I agree, $400 is a HUGE ripoff for this phone, but I got in on the $250 pre-sale and I honestly don’t regret it. I’m planning on selling my Slide and recoup some of that cost anyway.

I went to T-Mobile and played with it for a little bit.
The only thing I don’t like is how it opens.
It’s kinda hard to open it, I guess it’s because of the magnet now?

Can anyone help – or direct me where to go…
1) I thought you could use the browser, etc. while on the phone. Even when it says 3G in the corner (basically 24/7 unless I’m in the basement), I can’t go online while on the phone.
2) How do I get the little browser page loaded thing to go the f— away? I went through all the settings.
3) Is it just me or does the sound suck?? When it rings, it’s fine. But, no matter what youtube video I play, I can’t hear it. And forget speakerphone, that sucks, too.
I was a LOT happier with my 08 and regret selling it. I know I’ve only had the phone for four days, but ugh. Looks like I’ll be paying even more money to send the damn thing back.

Yeah, I paid 25 bucks to send mine back. I liked most everything about the phone, except for the call volume/quality. It sucked.
I may go back to it if the fix that, but for the amount I spent on the thing, I need it to make PHONE CALLS. **** the LX07 sounds better and the speaker on that thing is garbage.
Side-note: You can’t surf the net on the phone, however it does not lose connection, so IMs, e-mails, and the like come in while your on the phone.

battery life? haha take 3G off,and I get at least 14 hours of battery,it hasn’t died cuz it had 2 bars after 14hrs which impressed me a lot, my 3G is really good,since I am in nyc anywayz,but I don’t use it cuz it runs fine without it for me =)

Must agree…same goes for anyone else who goes out of their way to come on a SK site to down talk it or praise
another phone.
Personally as someone who has owned a BB and currently owns a iPhone3G, I would never solely switch to either one. As with another friend of mine who just got a BB Bold…he still has his SK.
And the G1 haha big joke.
The SK isn’t perfect but some people just refuse to see the flaws in other phones because they are
too busy being fan boys/girls.
Anyways…anyone know how you can do ringtones on the phone and put them on the device because recording from device to device makes them sound like garbage.

The G1 can do more the black berry and Iphone combined.If you want something for a phone.Just make and app for it.The phone can do anything.Hell, it even has a freakin metal detector(via compass).

This is a review of the sidekick coming from someone who actually works for T-Mobile and actually got a hands on feel for the new LX as well as a previous owner of the original LX. I personally loved the sidekick just for the simple fact that it was quick and easy to use, and yes, everyone is right, the LX09 isn’t much different than the old one. If you’re a devoted sidekick/hiptop user, then you’ll appreciate the updated version of the phone. I got bored with my sidekick, so I exchanged it out for the T-Mobile G1. For those of you who have the original LX, and you’re bored with it, or you don’t have the money or the patience to extend your contract for 2 more years for the new LX, you can get the G1 as an exchange because there are no more original LXs in stock. No contract extension. No payment. Unless you don’t have insurance, in which you have to pay shipping and handeling. As for all of the ignorant people who are fighting over whose phone is better; find something better to do with your time. Everyone has their own personal idea of what they find useful in a phone. I hear so much **** from people calling in each day who expect me to fix their phone, because it isn’t doing what their computer can do. That’s the issue, EVERYONE. It’s a phone. It’s a data device. It’s a PDA. It’s not you’re laptop or your macbook. Find something better to devote your life to. To finish this, I will always be a sidekick lover. The new one obviously has glitches, like every phone, but it is still nice. I’m just always up for change. So for now, it’s me and the G1. It’s treating me very nicely. =)

it doesnt show up in the ringtone folder like when you buy them
& well i heard the ONLY way to delete them is to use up all the ringtone space & supposely then you can delete them?

Deleting ringtones that you created, or even deleting voice notes is not supported. Not as of right now, atleast. There is a chance it will be fixed with an OTA update, but as of right now, there isn’t much news as to when.

I recently bought my sidekick LX 2009 and i gotta say i am very impressed this is my first sidekick since i had at&t before but since i moved downtown and there’s a t-mobile right in front of my apartment i decided to cancel my at&t account and decided to go with t-mobile.
i get a 3G connection everywhere in malls and hard to get signal places its an awesome phone i;m glad i changed because i got totally in love with it
i can check web browser on the go my twitter, myspace, facebook everything way better than my iphone plus everything cost’s me less than before.
maybe it’s because here in downtown the signal is strong and there’s great coverage so i guess it will be a long time till i get bored of this phone
