T-Mobile Memo on the Sidekick LX 2009 Launch
We got another internal memo from T-Mobile. Nothing too groundbreaking, but we figured it was worth posting for the sake of completeness.
Sidekick LX Pre-sale Launch
The Sidekick is going high speed with the launch of the new T-Mobile Sidekick LX on May 13 – the first 3G enabled Sidekick.
Existing T-Mobile customers will get the chance to purchase the Sidekick LX before it’s available to the general public with a pre-sale offer beginning April 17. During the pre-sale offer, existing customers can purchase the Sidekick LX on My T-Mobile at a special pre-sale price.
The sleek Sidekick LX comes with the same great features and functionality customers have grown accustomed to and includes enhancements such as 3G connectivity, GPS enabled Live Search, a 3.2 MP camera, and is the thinnest Sidekick with the largest and sharpest screen available of any other Sidekick. The Sidekick LX also features free bundled social networking applications including Facebook, My Space, and Twitter, which are optimized for the Sidekick making it easy for customers to navigate and view these sites. Customers also have access to Photobucket and You Tube, where they can easily watch You Tube videos and upload their own videos directly from the Sidekick LX. Sidekick LX customers can now talk on the phone while they surf the Web or IM friends with simultaneous voice and data capabilities.
Important: In order for customers to get the most out of their Sidekick LX, they must add the data feature. With the data feature, customers will receive unlimited nationwide text messaging, instant messaging, e-mail and Web browsing (international use is not included). Also, customers can easily download any software updates that become available for their Sidekick when they have the feature on their account. Customers without the data feature will have very limited functionality and will have a substandard Sidekick experience.
Note: The pre-sale offer is not available to FlexPay and Puerto Rico customers due to system limitations or to T-Mobile employees.
Pre-sale Pricing (April 17 – May 12)
2-year contract: $199.99 after $50 mail-in rebate
Delivery Expectations:
Customers who purchase the Sidekick LX during the pre-sale offer should receive their device by May 12 if purchased by April 30.
Orders placed between May 1 – May 12 cannot be guaranteed for delivery by the national launch date, but these customers will receive the special pre-sale pricing.
Customer Interest FormThe Sidekick LX 2009 Customer Interest Form should be used to collect contact information for customers who express interest in purchasing the Sidekick LX at launch.
Existing customers should be informed they can purchase the Sidekick LX online at My T-Mobile and will receive the special pre-sale price. Devices should not be reserved or guaranteed to customers, family members, or friends through store locations.
Action Steps
- Be aware the Sidekick LX will launch to existing customers on April 17, and all other customers on May 13.
- Refer customers to Sidekick.com for more information on the Sidekick LX or to My T-Mobile to purchase the Sidekick during the presale offer.
- Begin using the Customer Interest Form to capture details for customers who are interested in purchasing the Sidekick LX in-store at launch.
- Help right fit customers with the handsets/devices that best matches their lifestyle and needs.
- Ask probing questions to determine how they currently use or wish to use their device.
- Determine if customers currently use or are interested in high-speed Web browsing, GPS, visiting social networking sites, streaming media, instant messaging, text messaging, e-mail, and a full QWERTY keyboard to right fit them for the Sidekick LX.
- Make sure customers add the data feature when upgrading to the Sidekick LX in order for them to have unlimited nationwide text messaging, instant messaging, e-mail, Web browsing, and access to social networking sites.
- Review the Sidekick LX Pre-sale Launch article on the Retail Communication Home Page for additional details about the device.

WRONG. People are on welfare because the system is designed to keep impoverished people in a low station in life. This is accomplished through a number of ways, including not providing adequate schooling and food in poor neighborhoods, keeping healthcare of impoverished people at a minimum or non existant level and by people like you who generally have an uneducated and ignorant understanding of the hardships low income people must suffer.
If you’re surrounded by a general idealogy that you will never go anywhere in life and you are truely made to believe that social welfare is the highest level of income you will ever learn then of course acheiving status through material things (like a phone) sounds like a great idea.
The ruling class wants to keep people down but that doesn’t mean they WANT to be down. But if you grow up thinking you’re made to not be able to do better and you do not begin life having an equal chance as others then what can you do.

My parents came to this country in 1977 with 2 suit cases and the clothes on their back. They did not speak English.
They now own their own business and home, have put me through 2 colleges, and have shown me that anything is possible when you put your mind to it.
I work hard for everything I have, and will continue to do so.
When I see people hanging in the streets and drinking 40’s all day, it’s not cause of me, it’s cause of themselves. Many people have made it out of the “Hood”, while others enjoy being there, cause they don’t want to work or go to school.
Remember, we have our free will, nobody makes you have 5 kids with different fathers, and light up a crack pipe.
People need to stop asking for handouts and start working for themselves.
All you little kids will understand when your paycheck is raped and hundreds taken out of the pay you’ve earned. That’s if you ever get a job.

For every great story that this great country has about immigrants being able to “pull themselves up from their bootstraps” we have a story about how the system has failed people. You shouldn’t forget that some people don’t HAVE bootstraps to pull up. Some people don’t have the will to do better not because they’re lazy but because they are taught from birth they are not meant to do better. Immigrants who come here have a better chance of success because they set out with a mission and a dream. But if you are born in this country into a 5th or 6th generation of poverty then it is a completely different game you’re playing.

Its also pretty ammusing that right after your comment Dyingforit asked about a prepaid plan for the LX09. Unfortunately, Dyingforit, there’s no official word on a prepaid plan yet. But I don’t see why it wouldn’t happen.

Does anyone have any hard info regarding SMS, whether T-Mo has FINALLY increased the number of texts the device can store from 100, up to a more 2009-ish number, and increasing the SIM card from 30 texts as well? It’s rediculous that device after device keeps this feature at the same lame level of texts. What’s the deal with this new model?

but, yeah, im a kid, and i like having my sidekick prepaid cause i dont have a job. i do little chores for neighbors and whatnot, and i pay a dollar a day for my phone service. i think its an innocent system.

i have an average of 1,000 texts per week. i make sure to delete my inbox as much as possible. being able to hold more than 100 messages would be nice but i’m not to concerned about it.

I’m callin BS on that…. texts don’t take up any space on a phone. Threaded text is sooo many easier to read. I use an average of 70 mins a month . I text a ton (3000 a month)…I have to unload my in/out box all the time. But I can store 1000s of photos…

Im porbably getting carbon but I’m waiting for 3.0 on the iPhone to come out before I cancel and I want to know a little more about those touchscreen sidekick rumors… because the would be really cool.
I text about 200 times a day and more space would be welcome… especially if we get a 1 GB chip in the box. I would also love threaded text because I would miss that about my iPhone.

In my opinion touchscreen is lame and I believe its not what the sk is all about. Levae the touchscreen for them other fone.
The swivle on the sk is great enough.

Thanks for the responses in re texts. It’s not that it’s a “problem” Rey, as clearly we can hit the delete button to keep it under the max, but 100/30 text limits is way outdated at this point in time, and the so-called LX 2009 is about 3 years behind on this feature now, as it’s kept these miniscule limits on the last three phone updates, if I’m recalling correctly. T-Mo wants to be cutting edge, well then it needs to update its phones to be cutting edge, and get us either unlimited texting, including on the darn SIM cards (30 texts is REDICULOUS!), or at least some serious amount like 500-1000 on the device and 250 on the SIM card. And to answer anyone’s question as to why not just delete, the answer (and you all knew this before I wrote it) is that I like to keep certain texts from certain people. It’s like photographs, in a way. In this day and age, we enjoy seeing certain texts and emails from people, and prefer to keep them rather than have to select which texts I have to get rid of due to the SEVERELY limited space T-MO provides. Why they don’t update this feature is beyond me.

Bro, I’m not hating on everyone with prepaid, I know people that like prepaid because they don’t want to be locked to a contract.
Now check this example.
I was grocery shopping last week,I was behind this girl and she had a cart full of food, mostly junk food. She had 2 kids with her, and she was typing on a sidekick 2008 with a custom shell of her big black boyfriend I think. Anyway, I’m counting my coupons and what not, i’m looking at this girl that has all this gold jewelry and designer clothes , and wearing Jordan sneakers. When the cashier asks her for the money to pay for groceries she uses f@cking food stamps to pay for it. I was f$cking pissed.
Here I am worrying if I have the $150 bucks to pay for my families food. This bitch is wasting her money on a sidekick and gold and flashy clothes and sneakers.
And I am always seeing this type of shit. Most of you guys don’t understand because your probably of working and supporting yourselves, by. Someday you will. And you gonna say , damn , that guy had a point.
Anyway, I can’t wait to get the 2 kicks I ordered, I’m kinda jealous that my wife has the orchid, it’s a pretty nice color finish. Almost metallic.

I have been a T-mobile Business Customer and Sidekick user since the
launch of the SK2. I’ve never had a problem ordering a new SK as soon
as it launched. For some reason the new pre-sale is not available to
Business Customers. This must be a mistake. I’ve contacted Business
care and they have confirmed with no explanation. Below are the emails
from TMO.

the price of this phone is just rediculous to anyone who is a tmobile customer and cannot upgrade to the 199 price due to a contract… i think that we as loyal customers of t-mobile should be able to purchase this phone for 199 instead of 419… that price is just rediculous for a phone… expecially with the way technology is and how often phones are updated… this phone will eventually go out of style and drop in price… i will just stick with my 2008 until t-mobile decides to drop the price or come out with something newer.

does anyone know if since i have a family plan of 2 lines & i used my upgrade to get the sidekick 2008 & well i call tmobile & they said i can get the 199.99 deal for my other line ..which i would get the phone..but like i lost the other phone & i dont remember the password for my tmobile & tmobile said they would send a sim card for the lost phone to put in my 08 to get the password..but i dont want to go into that hassle of ordering the sim card & waiting for it to come & stuff cause it may just come when the 199$ presale is off.
but my question is..do you know if i wait til the phone acctually comes out if i will get the deal still since i can upgrade with my other line…
or should i just go ahead & have them send the sim card to me?

Here are some FACTS And QUESTIONS in Regards to the LX 09.
1. For those of you who assume web browsing in the lx 09 IS supported by flash think again. According to hiptop 3 forums, it’s explicitly stated that the web browsing for the LX09 is NOT SUPPORTED BY FLASH. Here is the link: https://www.hiptop3.com/archives/category/sidekick-2009/
With that being said, If web browsing on the Lx09 is STILL not supported by Flash will this deprive full access to “real web browsing performance (e.g. Streaming videos from youtube and or other related site sources)?
2. There are rumors speculating the possibility of a small charge or fee rendered for the GPS Application supported by Microsoft. Is this true?(please provide facts, not opinions as i have provided link above)
3. I’ve been a Tmobile customer as well as a Sidekick holder since the 2nd generation. I’m currently debating if whether i should instead purchase the G2 Android phone. I am a bit skeptical as to how well the Lx09 perfom with it’s upgraded 3G network. I do admire the fact in which Sharp/danger still adheres to “flip phone/ slide” realm. However, questions procure in whether this new device “sidekick Lx 09” will have slight advantages over the G2 Android phone which to the best of my knowledge release early this summer. (Please feel free to discuss this topic in depth if you please, after all this is a forum discussion). Thank You.

If you already have a kick with the data plan you don’t have to worry bout anything. You will get 3g service at no extra charge.
If you are returning to sidekick or are new to sidekick you will have to get a data plan with the purchase of your new kick. The unlimited data plans goes for $34.99 now. Used to be only $19.99.
