Zune Phone to be Announced at CES?

Rumor has it that the keynote at CES 2009 will be given by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, where he will officially unveil a new product that combines the features of the Zune with the Danger Sidekick handhelds. This is all according to Trip Chowdhry from Global Equities Research. He also says that there’s “some motion enhancement features” using an accelerometer in the device. I guess we’ll see what’s in store in a month!

I dont think this is necessary the next sidekick, there just using the same software. We’ll probably get this “Zune Phone” and then during the summer we’ll get the next sidekick.

Anyways, people are paranoid that Microsoft is going to throw Windows Mobile on the sidekick but do you really think they paid all this money to get there hands on the Danger OS just to not use it? Im still using my LX and with all these rumors, I dont plan on buying a new phone well into the summer. I cant wait to see what phones they have coming.

Well the only thing really that they have to go up against is the whole misconseption of a sidekick being a kids toy/phone, then is all the other next generation phones out there. Hope it dosent cost soo much.
Question….will the current sidekick users can buy the new phone and stay with there old plan which cost 20dollars a moth for unlimited data and text?????
    Will the 3g tranfer????

  6. tico Says:

Ok sounds good for sidekicks but they still need to get over the misconception that sidekick is a kids toy/phone and target older customers. That’s the first battle the second it the competition its going to have with all the other next generation phones out there, will it do eny good?
    Question!
Will the current customer of tmobile with the sidekick unlimited plan still have to change their plan if they get a new sidekick??? Or will it just roll with the new sidekick?
And if soo with it have 3g speeds???

Wonder how much the kick will cost…..

well if was sidekick’s intent to make a phone like everyone else they would have done so by now, but for those who have such strong opinions about this phone their is always something else

Since nothing as been confirmed yet, Im just going off my theories.

Honestly, I dont think their going to have to worry about the whole the sidekick is a kids phone because I doubt this will look anything like a sidekick. Im imagining a Zune looking touchscreen phone running the OS. They might use the same form as a sidekick but I just dont see that happening with this phone. Now I do see them releasing the next sidekick with features similar to this phone, and having the same sidekick form factor.

Now if this turns out to be a whole new phone running the Danger OS then I doubt our data package will transfer over. But if this is the next sidekick then I dont see why not. Unless they decide that using 3G means we need to pay a higher price which I think would be stupid but you know Tmobile.

  9. Rosario Says:

Oh and guys, dont forget that just because there using the Danger OS means this phone is coming to Tmobile, especially if its not a sidekick.

I doubt they would sell it anywhere else, just saying be warned.

Obviously, the mp3 player and probably video player will be a huge upgrade and a huge marketing tool for this next product.

I think the sidekick keyboard will stay in place ..amybe even softer keypad.

Other than that, Maybe a couple touch screen options and…since there’s an accelerometer, changing views.

I believe there will be upgraded video, upgraded camera, upgraded mp3 palyer …good standard phone for texting

maybe open source software and maybe the beginnings of 3G on it .

im so sick of every phone trying to be the iphone

  12. tico Says:

Well I know they will stay with the whole qwerty keyboard…cause no one can do that in the phone industry since dager has all the rights reserved forb the swible screen. They have to ….

I really…really don’t think that every phone is trying to copy the iphone, they just did it first..the whole touch thing……that is the evolution of the newer phone……is more of a design just like cady bar are there and flip phone are there….
Now that’s like sayin why does every phone want to be like sonys errison….and about the data plan I hope is true about it movin with the new phone

Its not even that everyone copyings because they were the first since there were touchscreen phones before the iPhone. Apple just made it really really popular. And companies are trying to please what people want.

And seriously no one can say oh there stealing Apples design. the iPhone is a rectangle with a big screen, nothing else. Not that many other shapes people can use.

Ok I dont think that is the final design of the phone ..
I dont think we should call a plain touch screen phone as “IPHONE”. Its not, that’s the way the evolution of one type of phone is going……touch screen …. its a Look and taste!! not to be referred to as an iphone type of phone…
like Claribel says there has been phones like that …. lets loose that term… the new iphone rip off…

FOR THAT LETS call any phone out there with a qwerty keyboard a SIDEKICk…

If the Zune phone is true, I think it will be so shotty. Danger just keeps shifting their attention away from the basic SideKick, the one everyone fell in love with. I hope they don’t change it too much. =/
