Sidekick LX 2009, err MobiFlip 3G coming to Canada!

Mobilesyrup is reporting that the Sidekick LX 2009 is resurfacing, this time under a new name. The device will be available from Mobilicity in Canada and is being called the MobiFlip 3G. According to the upcoming flyer it looks like you Canadians can score the device for $49.99 (after rebate) without signing a contract. Not too shabby. Rumors point to a launch before the end of the year.

    I basically have been waiting for a sidekick i can atleast have the browser working on in australia because they discontinued them here.

  6. Shannon Says:

    If they’re actually working with data, and no backend requirement, I will happily be importing these into Australia! Goodbye iPhone!

  7. B Says:

    Looks somewhat weird without the T-Mobile logos…

    so it will work?

  9. sklx-09 user Says:

    It uses Opera Mini as the web browser and is apparently independent from the microsuck servers for backend data support.

  13. yiannako Says:

    are these the same as the unlocked sidekicks best buy sells? because theyve always advertised them as unlocked and say nothing about being tied into t-mobile. all they say is “Operates on quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE data network”. if i buy one of these will it have opera mini?

  15. Nikki the Awesome Says:

    So wait let me get this straight instead of working on a kickass new sidekick that we could all enjoy here in america… they take the old one and try to profit from it in canada? That makes no sense…. bring us a new sidekick that rivals the iphone, android, htc, blackberry or whatever else is out there,,, and make the sidekick as glorious as it once was.. (Im all for sidekicks in other countires.. But rather than sell old.. Bring new and distribute to everyone!)

  16. anonymous Says:

    Can someone from ausutralia hurry up and buy this mobiflip or whatever and see if the browser works so I can get one!

    ( Although I do agree with nikki, but in the mean time!)

  17. ncmacasl Says:

    THE PLOT THICKENS!! According to this post at PoweredByDanger, they are using the devices WITHOUT permission of Microsoft/Danger!!!!

    https://www.poweredbydanger.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1173872#post1173872

    (from Appletech – Admin/Moderator)

    ~~~~~~~~
    I wouldn’t be surprised if this phone disappears off the market soon as I believe they are selling without permission (devices must attached with Danger services).
    They more than likely purchased a bulk supply of refurb devices and somehow modified the OS and simply tossed it up for sale without an service agreement with Danger (I haven’t heard of them having one yet).
    We know nothing about this device, if it’s locked, how they are even getting data services, etc…
    So I wouldn’t be telling people it will work with whatever carrier they want.
    This is probably why they are suddenly out of stock!!!
  20. sklx-09 user Says:
    Well, I’ve officially moved on to the mytouch 4G, they let me keep my $20 unlimited data plan. Since the only new sidekick i would like would have android, and after trying and not hating the swype keyboard at all. The mytouch 4G is great.
  25. ex-LX09 user Says:
    Dude, thats a G1, it was pretty much the first android phone ever, of all things to think is new!
    As far as the keyboard goes, The G1 takes the cake by a mile, but everything else on the G2 is golden. The way the phone slides up is funny..makes u think u broke the damn thing till u look at it. Lol. But yea, wheres the sidekick news? Has anyone tried directly contacting them through Twitter?
    ..oh yea, if u do have a twitter, follow me @AceBiggz, we can try to get T-Mo to speak up as a group! 🙂
