T-Mobile UK Ending Sidekick Service on April 15th
T-Mobile UK Sidekick users are receiving letters that inform them the Sidekick service will be shut off on April 15th. Once this happens you’ll still be able to make calls, send text messages, but anything related to the data service will no longer work. Make sure you back up all your personal info before that day so you don’t risk losing it!

I wouldn’t think they could just stop service on people who paid great out of pocket expense on their phones.How are they able to get away with it?Isn’t there any rights left for the consumer?Maybe apply the same law as when buying a car but for a longer time frame and call it the cell-lemon law in case our high priced, over rated,and widely advertised as all that of a phone experiences faulty manufacture defects not caused by the consumer in any way.It’s already quite disturbing to see the price my kids paid for mine a year ago mother’s day vs. the price it is now.Basically my kids got burnt and though I kinda like my phone still I see it was a total rip of my kids hard earned $$ as I slowly but surely watch it all go downhill heading towards being obsolete. It’s bs and someone aside of the consumer needs to step up and accept their failures and compensate those that bought their sales pitch that now has a glitch and is headed to the ditch.Ain’t that a *****…..?Yes it is!

it’s already happening in the US, just not publicly, i still have my sidekick 2008, that ive had for 2 years, and it hasnt been working for about 3 months now. so far, i kno that the LX’s still work, but anything older than that is receiving a signal from t mobile’s network, that wont let the phone stay on without being on the charger, i kno this because in airplane mode the phone stays on fine. t mobile is unofficially shutting down the sidekicks, only making it seem like its not their problem so that people will switch phones on their own, damn you t mobile.

I have the sidekick 2, 3, lx07, and lx09 and they all work perfectly fine on the network. It’s most likely an issue with your hardware causing it to shut off while looking for a signal..
Do you have insurance on it?

Its unforutnate that one of the last international markets for the kick is gone. Maybe it died in popularity? Tmobile in the Uk is one of the best carriers there. Its understandable that they don’t want a “lame” phone. Tmobile in the USA in my eyes is already getting replacement phones for the sidekick. Like giving sidekick users other options. And better options. I also kind of think that tmobile WILL shut the service off. I mean if the best carrier in the UK wont carry it why would the Worst carrier in the US carry it? No offense but we all know tmobile is in most areas HORRIBLE. Verizon is by far better. I just switched and must say what a difference. I hate when people do that like say other things are better but its true. I hope Tmobile does something. Thats probably why the kick is failing. Tmobile is the smallest carrier in the usa customer based wise. Okay iam done with my rant.

If it does not have a full qwerty with indiviual keys, then I don’t want it! The G1 is too damn bulky! Style is nowhere near lx07 or 09. If they replace sidekick with something better that’s good BUT it must have a full keyboard. That is the main reason I have been with the kick all these yars. Best keyboard I have ever used. I don’t like touch screen and would never get a phone that was only touch screen. Tmo should keep customers like me in mind.

The sidekick has been dead for years. I’ve had every kick since the first color model, and not much changed on any of them, software wise. Yeah it was a great messaging phone, but that’s about it. The web browsing on it sucked, bad! Even when the lx09 came out with 3G it still wasn’t a very good web experience, not to mention how often it crashed. But the bottom line is the sidekick has been dead for a while now, and say what you want, but I don’t believe Microsoft was to blame, it’s the Danger teams fault for selling to them. Oh and I think people that type “LyKe Di$” had a lot to do with the sidekick being labeled as a kids phone. Just sayin’.

Microsoft bought out Danger and host the sidekick website and servers which they have decided to close as they only have 1200 uk pay monthly sidekick customers. It cost more to keep the site than is generated. I upgraded to the nokia X6 a month ago and still got a call from T-mobile to say they are also sending out a HTC touch 2 as my sidekick wont work

I have had evry sidekick ever made black and white all the way up to the 09 and i loved every one. Unfortunately fate is how it is i still own a sidekick 3 dwade eddition and a 09 but i have been finding myself using my iphone lately. Im sad that microsoft fucked up sidekicks there is nothing like them. I really wish bill gates got a fat one up his but i hope that they release a new sidekick devicE that is a GOOD one not something microsoft ***** out.
