OTA rolling out to pioneer group
Wow, shortly after posting the announcment it looks like some people are already getting the OTA! As normal, it is being rolled out to a pioneer group of 1000 people for testing. There’s no way to tell if you’re one of those few, it’s random. R-A-N-D-O-M. So don’t bother sacrificing that chicken, it won’t help. So far it looks like no significant changes, and yes the themes are still intact.

I have one complaint about the sidekick 3 and that is that you cant record video on a sidekick 3. I mean every phone nowadays that have a camera have Video Camera. I payed 300 Dollars for this phone and people have Video on a phone that they paid 200 less. Thats is the only complaint. I mean the camera isnt perfect, especially in the dar but you cant expect digital camera quality on a cell phone. Hopefully that OTA would help out somewhere in that field.

I COULDNT IMAGINE A SOFTWARE UPDATE WOULD ALLOW U TO CAPTURE VIDEO IN THE FUTURE…MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT IS THE CRAPPY CATALOG CONTENTS…WHERE ARE THE GAMES? EVEN THE SK2 CATALOG HAD IKARI WARRIORS…AND WHEN THEY DO UPDATE IT, ITS LIKE 1 NEW CRAP SOLITAIRE GAME AND SAME CHAMILLIONAIRE RING TONES…GET WITH THE PROGRAM PEOPLE

I don’t think the sidekick 3 is a bad phone at all…sure the cam aint the best but..I don’t care about having the better phone Øf all my friends..I see the sidekick as a trend and I jus like it even when it didn’t have a cam….anyway happy 2 see the update is coming (maybe) well wonder if its gonna do more then fix the battery problems

Its not a feature adding update. It s simply a bug fixer. If you think that there will be new stuff added [in this small amount they had since augest] you are sadly mistaken.
People complain [not you guys.. just in general] that we need a OTA.. an when what they said they wanted a month or 2 ago gets here… They want features [again. not a user on here]
If you know how much time and work goes into this software, THEN people will understand. An OTA cant be built over night. It takes Months to code everything and make sure its accurate.

Yesh I agree with pyro, the sidekick three is an excellent device, the sidekick 3 is one the coolest phones out there…I mean really, like who cares about a video camera, when u could browse the web, chat on aim/msn/yahoo all day long, etc. I mean even if we had a video camera.. How long would the battery last for?…LoL I mean the battery dies quickly without one…so image if we did?…but on a flip note I can’t wait for this OTA, I’m gettin tired of seeing my phone have a 382% charge..=]

every since they announced this “OTA” my browser has been working incredibly well. I mean i still loose service every now and then but when i do have service it actually keeps me logged in to myspace and other sites for a long time, where as it used to make me logg in like everytime i clicked a link. also my net has been running faster. i dont know if this has anything to do with the “OTA” but i was just wondering if anyone else’s browsers were doing this.

Ill admit the camera on this phone is horrible. My girlfriends samsung t809 1.3 cam works great. My moto razr v3 (not v3i. I’m talkin about the 50 dollar razr) has a better cam than my sk3.
But the phone wasn’t really made for that. Its made for texting/instant messaging and some websurfing. The aim client is solid. Tell me one other phone that has a stellar aim client that doesn’t kick you off every 4 seconds or requires you to supdate your buddies. Also I haven’t found a keyboard that can keep up with my fast fingers like the sk3 can. This thing is on the money.
Not to mention it looks sharp, its pretty sturdy, buttons are great, call quality is good. Its a great device for sure

Oh my god, I got mine a few minutes ago! Is it still only 1000 people or EVERYONE with sk3 gets it now? Please let me know because I want to feel special if I’m one of those 1000 people! haha.

Yeah my phone has been more compatible with different websites, especially MYSPACE. I stay logged on now for like 2 days… where such as before my server couldn’t last 6 minutes. Another thing my phone has improved in is where my phone would be locked, and on the key guard screen it would display that I have a missed phone call and new voice message, Where before it didn’t…so I guess TMO is fixing bugs without having to send a complete OTA…

I got mine yesturday.
For me, reception is greatly improved, no more sudden drops.
Battery will take a week to test.
And people, please remember… It takes about a week for the update to FULLY work and all the stuff ike radio firmware to get good. Just a FYI

I got the ota on friday night…but for some reason I had to download like 3 or 4 things…iono…well I haven’t noticed much…
