Scratch That, Project Pink Phones Are Coming This Year
It looks like maybe the Project Pink phones are actually going to see the light of day later this year. In an article on CNET, sources are saying that Microsoft will ship Windows Mobile 7 later this year, but CNET is also saying the “next generation of the Sidekick product line” should ship before Windows Mobile hits the market. If this is true, that means the new Pink devices are coming, and they won’t be running Windows Mobile 7.
The good news is that we’ll know more soon. Microsoft’s Head of Entertainment and Devices, Robbie Bach, said they would have more to tell at the Mobile World Congress in a few weeks.

January 28th, 2010 at 2:24 am
Oh man..
I need to know if this is actually good news before I go and get the 2009 that way I can just wait =]
If it won’t have windows mobile means they’re keeping the danger os!?
If so this might be something to look forward to
January 28th, 2010 at 5:12 pm
If its a new kick I hope its Windows Mobile in the layout of the danger os. In othr words, will have the exact same layout as the kicks have now except with windows mobile apps/capabilities.
Until sidekick services are officially over I’m gonna stay using sidekicks
January 28th, 2010 at 5:17 pm
Only phones I liked with windows mobile were the MDA and the i930

DEATH TO MIRCOSOFT
February 5th, 2010 at 12:09 am
Still gonna suck regardless. Most people have moved on to android…so if the new kick doesn’t have apps n stuff its just gonna FAIL. RIP Sidekick..they had a good run. ON TO THE NEXT ONE!
February 5th, 2010 at 1:51 am
If the sidekick ran androids, it would breath new life to the phone
February 5th, 2010 at 10:07 pm
Am I the only one who doesn’t want the kick to go android….or change at all for that matter? I like new feature etc, but the UI is like, one of the reasons I still have it and upgraded to the 09 instead of the G1 kthnx.
February 6th, 2010 at 2:28 pm
I don’t want the Sidekick to go android, I don’t know what’s so great about going android, I understand Windows Mobile but Google Android…or is Android not based off of Google? Because so far I see Google phones have the Android OS. This will be hard but we’ll have to see what will happen by the summer time who knows?
February 9th, 2010 at 2:35 pm
Having a window sidekick will crash and have a lot of bugs
February 10th, 2010 at 1:06 pm
The only way you’ll see a “Sidekick” with Android is if T-Mobile decides to brand some other phone with the Sidekick name…like people think/thought they would for the MyTouch Slide.
Being that Danger is owned by Microshit, any Danger OS/skin will have Windows Mobile.
So, enough with the “Android Sidekick”…
@Alessandra
What makes Android so great is its open. There are tons of free apps, thanks to the thousands of developers in the Android Market. And EVERYTHING is customizable. Don’t like your wallpaper, simply change it (just change the pic, not like with the Sidekick where you have to create a theme and upload it via USB). Don’t like the OS skin? Change it (though that is slightly more complicated).
And, my personal favorite, there is an app that allows you to personalize text tones per person (like Ringtones, only for texts)!! I’ve been dying for a program like this, and now I have one on my DROID thanks to Android!
I loved the Sidekick (a user of 6 years), but it’s over. RIP Sidekick, you will be missed.

If you refresh your catalog, new versions of facebook and twitter are available to download on the original sidekick lx, sidekick 008, and sidekick lx09.
They work a lot better now!!
February 11th, 2010 at 10:23 am
Thanks for letting us know! I’ve been waiting for a new twitter update! Maybe I’ll actually use it this time!
February 11th, 2010 at 3:31 pm
Droid, that is interesting to know about the Google phone, but how do you sync your Android phone?
February 12th, 2010 at 7:15 am
U shud all drop the kick! Well, those of you who have the LX09 version anywayz. And if you DONT have the LX09 DO NOT UPGRADE! Trust me. Keep your 08s and Slides. That phone’s keyboard is a bust. The Motorola Cliq is the best! The features are amazing and the keyboard is bliss!! When these new Pink phones come out, I hope they actually LOOK like something as well as has an easy slip and slide button keyboard. Not like them sticky buttons on the LX09. Ugh!
February 12th, 2010 at 3:21 pm
I had to stop using my LX 09 a few days ago because I developed sharp wrist pains which I can only attribute to the terribly hard ’09 keyboard. What were they thinking???
Anyway, after I stopped using it, my wrist pain stopped too.
February 12th, 2010 at 4:12 pm
There’s something wrong with your fuckn hand not the keyboard ya exageratin the key board ain’t even that hard goto the fuckn doctor cuz your hand is retarded and check your brain cuz you don’t know what hard is you fuckin retard
February 13th, 2010 at 7:58 am
What are you looking to sync Alessandra?
Email? There’s an app.
Transfer music? Do it via USB, like with the Sidekick.
Something else…?
February 15th, 2010 at 3:49 pm
Okay “ANONYMOUS” maybe there’s something wrong with your BRAIN. I’m a perfectly competent person that can assess a situation and logically come to a conclusion. Don’t talk about what you don’t know.
I realize that not everyone will experience the pain I felt when using the 09 sidekick, otherwise it would be a widely acknowledged problem…but nevertheless, it IS a problem for me. I didn’t imagine my wrist hurting, and it most certainly had never happened before my sidekick.
I can understand loving the sidekick and being loyal to it. I still love the idea of sidekicks and have been a major proponent for the awesome devices, the sad truth is though, that using it for a few weeks made me develop a sharp wrist pain because the keyboard was so much harder to type on than my old phone, a Nokia e71x.
