Sidekick 4G Will Be Made By Samsung

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

TmoNews is reporting that the Sidekick 4G will be made by Samsung. It was reported by two separate sources, but just for safety’s sake consider it still a rumor until FCC filings or official announcements drop. Personally I was hoping for Sharp, but I’m glad it’s not HTC.

I really think the form factor of the Sidekick 4G will be what makes or breaks it. So many people stuck with the device over the years as the OS became more and more outdated only because of the awesome keyboard and screen. Here’s hoping that T-Mobile/Samsung can

New tiny 5MP camera from Sharp

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008
Sharp 5MP Camera RJ63SC100

Sharp (you know, the guys that make all the Sidekicks except the Slide) have announced a new tiny but high resolution (5MP) camera that even has auto focus. If you ask us, this looks amazingly similar in size and shape to the cameras currently in the Sidekick LX. Sharp says the new camera will be available for mass production in July so chances are we won’t see this in the Sidekick Gekko. But this would be something to keep an eye out for the Hiptop m3 (or whatever they’re going to call it), which we speculate will be coming out at the end of the year.

Sidekick LX OTA Coming Soon?

Friday, October 26th, 2007

It sounds as if Danger is preparing the first OTA for the Sidekick LX. They are calling the update an “Email Refresh for Sidekick LX Users” and it appears to update your Email application to use tabs, similar to the recently released Myspace application.

Judging from the Screenshots, this looks to make each service you use into it’s own tab. So if you have say your T-Mail account and a Gmail account, there will be a T-Mail and Gmail application to keep them separated. It also looks pretty nice.

No release date information has been specified, and it’s unclear if there will be other fixes or if this just replaces the EMail application.

Sidekick LX Manual Released

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

Looks like T-Mobile jumped the gun a little early and released the Manual for the Sidekick LX to us. We’re not sure if there are any surprises in it, but if there are we’ll be sure to post them here.

Sidekick LX Manual

Some new features we’ve discovered in our first combing of the manual:

“Note! The SonicBOOM Music Player will play MP3, WAV, MIDI, WMA, AAC (MP4), XMF, RMF, AIFC, IMY, AMR files; it will not play RAM, M4P, FLAC, RA or any other file that is not listed above.”

Please do note, the Manual will show some features that have been removed by T-Mobile. It is a general Manual, not T-Mobile specific.

Jamie Kennedy – Not My Sock

Monday, October 8th, 2007

More T-Mobile celebrity buzz, this time from Jamie Kennedy, in a pretty funny sketch titled “Not My Sock”…

Everybody knows our Sidekick’s need to stay scratch free and a sock is a great way to do that.

…Where’s the trust?
